FA Cup Final tickets stolen

Liverpool Football Club tonight warned fans not to buy FA Cup final tickets on the black market after revealing a quantity of tickets were among items stolen from a Royal Mail van in Liverpool. A club spokesman said: "The theft occurred this afternoon and we will have a better idea of exactly how many tickets have been taken tomorrow.

"However, all tickets had been sent by special delivery so we will have an exact record of the individual seat numbers.

"Consequently, we urge our supporters not to buy tickets from unauthorised sources as they run the risk of not being allowed into the Millennium Stadium and of being arrested for being in possession of stolen property.

"We will be working over the weekend to identify the missing tickets."

were they in big envelopes with "FA CUP FINAL TICKET ENCLOSED" on the front?

you would think that they could find a more secure way to get these delivered.

The mail is supposed to be secure, and sacrosanct. If they get nabbed they will be dealt with harshly. Stealing mail is a nasty crime, fecking low life.

Now im worried or at least i will be until postie delivers my tickets.

Why are they saying all the tickets are special delivery, they are normally sent normal post or was it only tickets for people who have paid for recorded delivery?

i think all the tickets are sent special delivery because of the short amount of time. Bad s*** really as i havent received since i bought them weds. Knew i shouldnt have been a lazy git and shouldve gone down the ground.

Same story appears every year - it's the most effective way of making people think twice about buying off 'unofficial sources'.

It is, and is stealing from the queen (not wanting to turn this into a monarchy debate), if they get caught, they will be (or should be) in big bg trouble.

That can't be true as you had the option to pay extra to add recorded or special or something delivery when buying them online

Bought mine over the phone and was told I could either pick them up from the ground or have them sent recorded delivery - normal post was not an option.

Same for me. As a side note Special Delivery at my post office is £4.10 and not the larger amount the Club are charging.

I just got mine and they said exactly that on the front with the other words...DO NOT STEAL!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

The choice was special delivery or collection on the phone

Nowt else.

I bought online, there was an option for special delivery but i did not pay it, just £2.50 service charge on each ticket.

On the phone the information said you had to get them special delivery on line as there would be no replacements issued etc etc etc

Sounds like they f***ed the web page up.

What I was thinking.

In fairness, I don't see what else they could reasonably be expected to do than send them recorded delivery.

And on a side note, does anyone know when the reuslts of the ballot will be made known? (And yes, I know chances of a ticket via it are ridiculously slim)

You get contacted by phone on Mon if you were successful. Does anyone know the ticket to applicant ratio for the ballot?

Not sure. Heard someone in the queue the other day saying there will only be 500 tickets left over (although don't know where he got that from). Guess there would be at least 10,000 applications? So not good, in other words.

I think it will be more like 4000 applications. Thats how many went into the ballot for the semi's i think; and thats assuming that everyone that went to the semi can go to the final so maybe 3500?

They are phoning every successful applicant personally, so the numbers getting a ticket can't be that huge.

I bet someone gets a call on Monday May 15th.

I'm not convinced its possible to determine exactly what envelopes were loaded onto any one given mail van.
