We all know Garcia and Mullins will miss the final.

However, should bookings and dismissals only count in that competition ?

eg.

Garcia and Mullins were sent off in a Premiership game, should that 3 match ban only apply to Premiership games ?

The FA and Carling Cups are seperate competitions. So if you receive a card in one it only counts in that particular competition (aka Europe).

Bookings, sendings off should only count in 1 competition. It was a joke that our yellows in the Super Cup were being counted towards CL games, that took the piss. Red cards I could understand but yellows was silly.

yes. Well, at least as far as this example is concerned...

Then you'd probably end up with a player who only gets 2 bookings all season & misses the final because they were in the FAC.

I thought the FA would have seen sense, meself

Come on, how old are you ?

What I was thinking that it needed three bookings in the FA Cup to mean a one-match ban.

There are pros and cons to this, still trying to work out what side of the fence I'm on.

Not all that bothered about this rule, to be honest. If they changed it then they'd have something like '2/3 yellows = FA Cup ban' because of the fact that if it were say 5/6 yellows before a player was banned, then he could get booked in almost every round of the Cup and still make the final, i.e no punishment. If they reduced it to 2/3 bookings though then everyone would be getting banned and a lot more players would miss Cup semis and finals, I reckon.

What they do need to do is change ridiculous rules such as not being allowed to rescind a red card if it was two yellows. Two yellows is obviously not as bad as a straight red and yet you could end up being punished more for it.

Yes, totally agree with you on that one.

No.

Because what if you receive a three game ban in the FA Cup but your team is then knocked out. If it's a bad enough tackle you should still receive your full ban and it would be daft to keep it until following seasons, as it may take a couple of years to complete it.

But in my master plan, suspensions would be quoshed at the end of the season.
