I was giving it a hefty rendition today and some girl chimes up and says she was in that musical.

 

I didnt have a clue what she was talking about, but i looked it up and she was right. The song was written by Rodgers and Hammerstein in 1945.

 

I had no idea that it went back that far....always thought it was a pop song first

Just read a little about it...apparerently the song had a special resonance during the time as it gave a lot of people hope during the war.
