Gomez Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 I'd like to know what Sam Alladyce has to say on the matter.
Des Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Knew it was coming but still f*cking brilliant news!

stressederic Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 I'd like to know what Sam Alladyce has to say on the matter. "Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!"
Coyler Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 I'd like Sam to continue with the "how I would play Owen if I were in charge of the team" quotes for the duration of McClaren's reign. Either that or grow back the 'tache in shame.
Gomez Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) The FA guarantee another 4 years of ineptitude. They call it continuity, it makes sense when you are successful, like Shankly handing over to Paisley, but when you've under acheived, why would you want to continue? Before we get all the English arrogance comments, as far as I am concerned, we have a better squad than Greece and therefore failing where they succeeded is under performing. Oh, and Heskey's screwed if what Kev said is true (and if it came from Emile himself it probably is) we have now got an England manager that allows personal vendettas get in the way of his job. I predict McClaren will serve one of the shorted reigns as England manager in recent years. Venebles was two years, McClaren will do well to make that. Edited May 4, 2006 by Gomez
stressederic Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Mclaren was the best of whats left. They'll probably carve it on his headstone.
McBain Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Better than Fat Sam. But that's about the only positive I can think of
Stevie H Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 That's great news for Beckham at any rate. the FA has just extended beckham's england career and captaincy by at least two years.
Des Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) Better than Fat Sam. Are you sure about that? What has McLaren done as a manager apart from already being part of the set up? A couple of wins in a second tier Euro competition means nothing in the grand scheme. The FA have really f*cked this up. Why couldn't Potato Head Barwick have kept his fat mouth shut until the Scolari deal was done and dusted? Still, I'm not complaining mind... Edited May 4, 2006 by Des
Gomez Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Better than Fat Sam. But that's about the only positive I can think ofDisagree, Alladyce would have had comedy value (and would have been kicked out even quicker) McClaren doesn't even have that going for him. Possibly the worst choice they could have made. Barwick is now claiming McClaren was his first choice all along and they never offered it to Scholari! Unbelievable, he must think we are thick. If that was the case, why take so long, McClaren's effectively had a 6 year interview.
Guest Scot Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Dreadful, spineless, uninspiring decision. Loved this from the BBC report: ' a disappointing tournament could place him under early pressure'
fred milne Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Are you sure about that? What has McLaren done as a manager apart from already being part of the set up? A couple of wins in a second tier Euro competition means nothing in the grand scheme.A strong character is needed to reign in all those Team England egos. I can't see a born No.2 like McLaren doing it and he's hardly set the Premiership alight since he's been at Boro despite having a respectable budget at his disposal. Alladyce would have had comedy value. Now that IS true.
Owen1978 Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Thats funny as f*ck one of the worst english managers out there and he's spent a decent amount of money, which most mid table managers would envy and there in the bottom half. So he's got that to a cup final so what?, he had pure luck in the last two rounds to come through! If they wanted an english manager curbs should have got it
Stevie H Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Dreadful, spineless, uninspiring decision. Loved this from the BBC report: ' a disappointing tournament could place him under early pressure' if england do flop at the world cup, at least mclaren might now take some of the flak off crouchy.
Guest Scot Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 No honeymoon at all for this chump. Press must be salivating.
IgPig Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 He bought Ricketts, Malcolm Christie and spent £8m on Macarroni He can't fail.
Stevie H Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 he won't actually change a thing. in fact i could see it getting worse in that neville and beckham will now pick the side. the england players' representative committee is made up of neville, beckham, campbell and david james. horrible. He bought Ricketts, Malcolm Christie and spent £8m on Macarroni He can't fail. you could level failed signings at any manager though to be fair. so that's not really a stick to beat him with.
Guest Red Mist Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Rubbish appointment. I wanted Hiddink to get the job.
smithdown Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Poor Sam. By the way, thats not my sentiment, thats just how he should be known on here from now on.
