Phil236849 Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 a good reminder as we approach another "critical" transfer window so no-one else feels embarrassed, i'll admit i wasnt disappointed when we signed the desperately poor paul stewart! he'd had a decent fa cup final, i hadn't seen him play much else, and i was only a wee lad with no judgment....but what a disappointment!
Phil236849 Posted May 4, 2006 Author Posted May 4, 2006 nigel cloughstan collymoremorientes to name but 3 at least collymore wasnt a total failure was he
Gomez Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Morientes is the obvious one. Other that:Paul Stewart.Nigel Clough.
Chili Palmer Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 In recent times it has to be Cisse, we thought we were getting another Tierry Henry, when in fact we got another Sean Dundee.
Cobs Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 at least collymore wasnt a total failure was heno, but considering how good he was when he was at Forest playing with Brian Roy he was a disappointment for us - he had the lot, power, pace, two good feet...... shame.

Woodsyla Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Diouf, he looked quality in the World Cup, thought we'd signed real talent
Leo No.8 Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) Cisse and Morientes also - I was delighted with both signings, but they've each proved to have their own very differing limitations. Djando Cissientes who has Cisse's pace and Moro's touch, heading ability and footballing brain would be the best striker in world football. How's that genetic research facility at Melwood coming on? If its not up and running yet, then sack Parry... Edited May 4, 2006 by Leo No.8
Cobs Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 oh yes - Phil Babb was another looked terrific alongside McGrath at USA 94 - total gash for us.
Boca Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) oh yes - Phil Babb was anotherlooked terrific alongside McGrath at USA 94 - total gash for us. Phil Babb is a great shout. Thought he would be outstanding for us. Another who I thought would be a star was Litmanen but he was hugely disappointing, for whatever reason, as well. ...and I can't believe I just posted my 1,000th post and it was slagging Jari. s**** Edited May 4, 2006 by Boca
Rory Fitzgerald Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 CollymoreSmicerDioufKewell I had a nagging doubt over Morientes, so I wont say I was overly disappointed with him.
Leo No.8 Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Although he's become a bit of a legend following Istanbul I'd have to also say Vladi. Incredibly talented footballer - but didn't really deliver to his potential during his time here due to a mixture of injuries and lack of confidence. Seems a top bloke though, and as I said has written himself into legend regardless...
