Admit it, we're all going to be supporting England this summer

I know it's something of a fad to say we Reds dislike England and just hope our boys return fit and healthy, don't care how England get on otherwise, won't it be funny when the team slips up, blah, blah blah.

We may not cheer on the likes Fat Frank and dirty Neville, we may not wave flags from our cars, or sport an England shirt, we may not even express out loud even an iota of emotion in favour of England, but deep down, very deep down in the bottom of our hearts, there will be a small part of us that WILL be willing England on. Especially when we face Germany in the knockout round, what was a low voice barely audible, will become louder and our support for England over the krauts will become more tangible.

Who can say with a straight face that they will NOT will England on if we play the dirty, cheating Argies with Stevie G driving on the team? I hope we bloody batter them if we ever play them in Germany.

Let?s not descend to the small time pitiful level of the dirty manc fans who sing anti-England songs and wear their hatred of England as a badge of honour ? even them ?mancs? that claim to be English.

The World Cup is the biggest sporting event on earth, every idiot who's lucky enough to be represented by his country in Germany will be cheering his boys to the hilt.

Let's not deprive ourselves of this rare event, and if we can't bear to support England publicly, let us at least hope we beat the bloody Germans.

God save the Queen!

a fad!!!???

A large proportion of Liverpool fans have not been supporting England since the 80s at least.

I'll be supporting all the Liverpool players in the World Cup, irrespective of who they play for.

I actually think one of the things we have in common with some of the mancs is a healthy disrespect for the England team.

re-reading the post, i'm not sure if it's a wind up or not

but if not, some of the xenophobic, daily mail views in it are some of the reasons I will not be draping myself in the flag of st george this summer

I will be watching them and they might get the occasional cheer when carra puts in a crunching tackle or stevie scores a 25yard screamer.

But i will be cheering on spain more, Go Xabi & co!!!

Being a scouser I can honestly say hand on heart I couldn't give a f**k about England. In fact, I hope to see them get knocked out as early as possible so that I can see the typical over-hysterical reaction of the media and seeing those horrible, obnoxious t**t England fans getting packed home early.

Other than that I hope to see some nice football in the tournament, and will be following Spain's fortunes closely, in fact you could even say I'm supporting them.

Are you kidding? I love our Spanish guys but what the heck do I have in common with Spain? I don't know their lingo, don't know their players (except for our lads), I HATE their Nazi-like manager, I eat Paella and support the Basque independence movement, BUT none of that will compel me to support them over England - the team that represents MY country.

Ill support england and the team I will not bring myself to cheer any players on from the Scum or Chealsea. I hope that all liverpool players play 10 times better than the respective collegues. IE gerrad lampard I hope gerrad does better by far to i can laugh at my mates who rate lampard.

Support my country yes but i cant say it will be a good thing if lampard scores the winner in the final in fact i think i would rather us be knocked out considering it will be another 35 years of how good lampard was etc.

Correct. The sooner they get knocked out the better. Put down the plastic chairs and go home you sunburnt woppas. Jokes about a war that ended 60 years ago and a World Cup that you weren't alive in are not funny.

The thought of England winning it is f***in unbearable. Imagine what Euro 96 did for beauts at the game (and in general) and quadruple it.

............chop down trees and hang around in bars

wish i was born a girly, just like my dear mama

Couldn't care less about England, beyond hoping our players do well. Don't care who wins. Hope Spain do well.
