Buttles Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Apologies for another Pennant thread but just received this mail from a mate who is in the know. "Alright mate, hope your well, just been doing some agent work over the weekend at Liverpool sorting out signing Jermane Pennant - will be public in a week or so, just a case of Birmingham saying how much they want but he has agreed psnl terms and has been offered 3 yr deal. Thought id let you know, not sure who's leaving Liverpool I did ask Benitez to see if I could do any more work for em but said too early to say who's off.."
sean Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 The mother of all 'milkman's counsin's sister's mother-in law told me so'.

Rory Fitzgerald Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I was wondering about him alright after they went down. His agent should show him a cut out picture of Peter Crouch, a plane and the world cup. Then he should show him a picture of Andy Johnson and a picture of Brighton pier.
Boca Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 He was the first player I thought of as well when they got relegated. Sent a text to another forum member at around ten to five Saturday saying we should bid for him that night. Would be an excellent signing if we could make it happen. Thanks for the info.

sutty Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Jermaine pennant is my baggage handler's dog He's my chaufeur
SkippyjonJones Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I was under the impression that the clubs had to agree terms before personal terms could be discussed. And that players already had agents ? making it unlikely that someone would be asking the manager to put in a good word for them/ represent any outgoing players/ fleece them. I could be mistaken though
CarraLegend Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I was under the impression that the clubs had to agree terms before personal terms could be discussed. Thats just an official line isnt it? Who knows what goes on underneath it all.
Skillz Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Dont know if this is legit, in fact i have my doubts. However he would love a move to us, cheap and he is a talent. If Rafa has to fit Momo, Xabi & Stevie in midfield he needs a player who will not expect to start every game. I've been thinking about that and Pennant fits that bill very well. Also allows us to concentrate on the striker position. Would not surprise me at all and from what i have seen if he gets the Rafa treatment he will be a bargain.

I've been thinking about that and Pennant fits that bill very well. Also allows us to concentrate on the striker position. With Pennant and Gonzales we have a Midifeld 5 --- the Anfield 5 what we would need then is the right striker, and as Pennant would cost less than Joaquin, we could spend the rest of our transfer money on getting that striker Edited May 2, 2006 by Fathom

I'm sure Rafa wouldn't know who he's open to offers for alright at this stage. The whole point of a club hiring third party agents is to flush out offers to see what interest is out there without being tied to it.
Jeff guitar Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I just got this txt . "Alrite, ope ur well, did some work over the w/end @ LFC - Rafa felt sorry 4 him so he wants Fat Head Bruce to take over reserve team ops for nxt yr. Will not be made public though, so if any1 says its not true don't believe em. BTW he is bringing a Pennant or something with him for the first team." Think it's a wind up myself. BTW Would be very happy with Pennant at the club:)
hideNseek Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Did your mate not say how much we'd have to pay for him?
Buttles Posted May 2, 2006 Author Posted May 2, 2006 Did your mate not say how much we'd have to pay for him?He didn't - I would hazard a guess at £5-7m though. I have no reason to doubt him, he isn't someone who likes to big himself up. As they say - we will see!
Clay Davis Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I don't believe it until DH, Elisha or the Echo says it!But i'd be happy with Pennant but to be fair I could have posted this.
PhilM Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Have to say, this thread stinks of a certain other website. As someone said above, do we not have to agree a fee first or at least get permission to talk to them. Otherwise it's called "Tapping Up" surely?

Guest Assassin Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 He didn't - I would hazard a guess at £5-7m though. A player of Pennants limited talents should not command any more than £3mill worst case. He is nothing more than a squad filler....
Kite Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I just got this txt too . "Alrig, ope u well, did some work over the w/end at LFC - Entire Birmingham team is being signed to bolster the reserves. Rafa felt sorry for them. Will not be made public though, so if any1 says its not true don't believe em. BTW Pennant is being run up the flag pole." Think it's a wind up myself....
