Magic8Ball Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 You know, I'm already tired of WHU talking to the press etc, etc - this will only add to their "underdog" tag I just want us to win
Benitez Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Etherington not playing was just a precaution apparently, nothing that should keep him out the final. Ashton is a very good player, but he's there in the Neil Mellor school of unfit looking strikers.

I'd rather Ashton played, Sheringham caused us a few problems the other night (Allbeit a few subs were playing)
Bootle Buck Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Will will give them a "Masterclass" and hammer them 3-0. I see a similar game to the league Cup Final whn the Mancs wiped the floor with Wigan.
Cunny Posted May 2, 2006 Author Posted May 2, 2006 http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...060502-0820.htm CUP FINAL WORRIES FOR HAMMERS West Ham are sweating on the fitness of several key players ahead of next weekend's Cup final clash with Liverpool. The Hammers secured a top half finish to the Premiership season with a 1-0 victory at West Brom last night, but the victory came at a cost as the injuries continue to mount for manager Alan Pardew. Dean Ashton is the biggest concern after limping off with a hamstring injury while midfielder Matthew Etherington pulled out of the game before kick-off after feeling a twinge in his abductor muscle. Israeli Yossi Benayoun was also missing with a groin problem. "We're having a bad run at the wrong time," said Pardew. "My guys are picking up too many knocks. Anton Ferdinand (back) and James Collins (groin) didn't even travel to West Bromwich and, while they should be okay for the final, they're both doubtful for the Spurs game. "Yossi Benayoun picked up a groin strain in training and we'll have to see how he is and now, of course, we've got to add Matthew Etherington and Dean Ashton to the list."

We had to beat Chelsea and the Glams to get here, I don't think we'll let up any now. Our lads will be every bit as up for the game as theirs and I think we'll play them off the park.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Every final we have been involved in since 2001 has had some major twist ! I hear you say that we beat Man Utd 2-0 in the Worthy Cup and there was no major twist but we were heavy under-dogs for that after a 3 month bad patch! The under-dogs we've played have been Birmingham and Alaves and one went to peno's and the other within 4 mins of. I am preparing myself for an emotional rollercoaster !
Herbie von Smalls Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 pardew's been on ssn saying that the ashton 'injury' was not a pulled hamstring. seems like it was more of a precautionary decision to take him off. unless of course pardew's trying mind games on us all.
John Barnes Testicles Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Benayoun is one ugly bugger. He really does look like the missing Neville brother. Anyone got a pic to compare?

That he is, cracking little player though. A bit Beardsley-like in looks and ability... Edited May 2, 2006 by Leo No.8

Basically, Liverpool and cup finals go together like over excitment and a trip to the cardiology dept
c00p Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I think most of it is 'please everyone feel sorry for us as lickle old West Ham are playing Liverpool but we are struggling'. If we play like we are capable of then we will brush West Ham to one side as we are far more superior to them. It is the Fa Cup so anything is possible.

difs.oner Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Our last FA cup final against Arsenal wasn't exactly great for the old heart

Stevie H Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 i hope west ham have a fully-fit squad to pick from for the final. their players deserve to play in it.

What we expected to win, and did I start in 77 being a youngster and all that.It was only by 93 I found out we didn't have a divine right to win everything. Anyway, West Ham, should win, but anything could happen in a one off game, etc, etc, etc........
Boca Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Ethrington has suffered a bad ankle injury at training now. Probably out for the final
