Swipe Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Spurs are gonna beat United tomorrow. That'll leave the gap at 3 points, same number of games played, with United still needing to go to Stamford Bridge.
Knox_Harrington Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Goal difference isn't helping us though. I think the Arsenal result was the one that nailed it on for them.
Guest Jack Bauer Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 If Spurs beat the Mancs tommorow, we have a good chance imo but it goes without saying we'll have to win all our games and Pompey away on the last day is going to be very tough.
Mike Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 we won't do it. even if they lose to spurs and chelsea we'll have to bang in about 10 goals in two games.
Swipe Posted April 16, 2006 Author Posted April 16, 2006 GD could be a factor, that's true. But I have faith in our players to win our remaining games. I think both Spurs and Chelsea can beat United. Suppose it'll boil down to whether the that will affect them and they'll slip up somewhere else.
Guest Kev Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 I said a few weeks back that we wouldn't get second place. United have Spurs and Chelsea away in their next games, could quite easily lose them, but then they have Boro and Charlton at home and I cannot see them not winning those games. It could come down to goal difference which in a way would be disappointing.
Swipe Posted April 16, 2006 Author Posted April 16, 2006 we won't do it. even if they lose to spurs and chelsea we'll have to bang in about 10 goals in two games. If they lose to both London clubs, they'll get twitchy. No doubt about it. They looked very mediocre before going on that great run. Who else have they got to play? I said a few weeks back that we wouldn't get second place. United have Spurs and Chelsea away in their next games, could quite easily lose them, but then they have Boro and Charlton at home and I cannot see them not winning those games. Andy @ Allerton Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Man U will beat spurs 3 or 4 - 0. We won't make second - but I think we've made third with todays excellent result We've progressed well this term compared to last and if we can fill those positions where we lack that killer touch - then we really can challenge for honours next season where it matters. Swipe Posted April 16, 2006 Author Posted April 16, 2006 (edited) Let's hope Chelsea hockey them by a few goalsThe GD is 9. If United get beat by Spurs and Chelsea, and we keep winning, a good chunk of that GD could be ebbed away. All if's and buts, but Spurs and Chelsea are both capable of beating them confortably at their own grounds. Fingers crossed! Edited April 16, 2006 by Swipe
Andy-oh-six Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 I can't see us getting second. Even if they only win two matches the goal difference is too much to make up. It's a shame that blip after new year has cost us a shot at the title and the chance of second place - Utd's run of recent wins hasn't helped either.

Jim D Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 (edited) 2. Mancs P36 W24 D7 L5 F68 A34 GD +34 PTS 793. Liverpool P37 W24 D7 L6 F54 A24 GD +30 PTS 79 Mancs play Boro on Monday night, fingers crossed Boro can take something off them. Boro have played well against the big clubs this season, so there is some hope there. Also heard Rooney, Neville and Giggs are major injury doubts for that game. Think we can do it? Benzo-13 Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 Rooney out fot them cuts their performance level in half..Plus they may have a hangover from being thumped today. Think second is on now myself.

It's possible but it's not likely. You're asking that United win neither game, think that's very improbable.

It's possible, but still unlikely. I'll be well happy with 3 more points at Pompey for a total of 82 for the season. A huge improvement on 58 last year. And the FA Cup would cap an excellent season.
bazz Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 At this stage Rooney is a doubt for England's world cup as much as the Boro game I cross my fingers!!
Billy Talbot Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 (edited) Nah, the t***s need just one win from two home games - Boro and Charlton. In fact they just need to equal our result against Pompey away in one those games and the other they're free to lose. Suppose the good thing is that with Portsmouth having done their Houdini - they shouldn't be quite as tough a nut to crack for us. Edited April 29, 2006 by jr_ewing

They're lower than they were when the crook took over.
