Yeah you can pay on the gate. I think they said they were expecting about 30,000 but to be honest I think they'll get more than that.

We got tickets on the kop just to make it hassle free but I'm sure you'll be ok sitting together.

Jammy gets at the match just called me saying its all 1986 revisited:

Queen songs, Michael Jackson, Genesis, everyone in their brown cords buzzin like a load of better beauts waiting for roly poly Molby to run out with the lads.

Why isn't Big Ears Linekar playing?

cos he's injured.

That Adidas kit Liverpool is wearing is not very good, hopefully just a prototype :D

What a goal it was too! One touch passing in and around the box, very nice. Great to see Dalglish on a footy field, he's still class.

Benitez giving Kenny and the lads a few tips in training there.. love it.. fkin legends the lot of 'em..

There was a little piece in the Sunday Times about Kenny and Rafa meeting last week - first time they ever met :o

Kenny turns back clock

The Liverpool legend raises money for his wife?s cancer fund tomorrow in a rerun of the 1986 FA Cup final against Everton.

By Jonathan Northcroft

They stood face to face in their training kits, middle-aged midriffs hanging over their shorts, their mutual shyness hanging in the air. There was an awkward moment, a wisecrack from Alan Kennedy, ice- breaking, and a warm pair of grins.

Rafael Benitez clasped Kenny Dalglish in a full handshake. They laughed and they were off, Benitez squinting at first as he tuned into Dalglish?s Govan semi-mumble, but soon gabbling away in football, their common tongue.

Gerard Houllier used to be wary of Liverpool?s old heroes and once compiled an inventory of former players and managers who had criticised him. Benitez sees the past not as a problem but a prop. On Thursday he opened his club?s Melwood training complex for the use of Dalglish, who was putting his Liverpool team of 20 years ago through a workout to prepare for a charity match against their Everton counterparts tomorrow in a restaging of the 1986 FA Cup final.

Benitez watched, half- admiring, half-amused, as a portly John Barnes conserved his energy by retreating to centre-half, a mammoth Jan Molby ambled, knocking regal passes with either foot, Ian Rush darted, still toothpick-thin, now silver-haired ? and Dalglish thundered around in the middle of it all, having lost not one inch of his competitive streak.

Their confab was a little moment of Liverpool lore. ?It was great for Rafa to come out and say hello. That?s the first time I?ve met him and it was a real pleasure,? said Dalglish. ?He?s done fantastic here. He?s a humble wee man and goes about his job the way the Liverpool support expect their manager to go about it, in a way they can relate to.?

He expressed delight that three days after the anniversary of the 1986 final, Liverpool will be playing for the FA Cup again, in Cardiff against West Ham. Next season, Dalglish suggested, the club might contest an even bigger domestic trophy. ?We?ve jumped two places in the league this year (from fifth to a likely third this time). Another two next year and we?re cooking with gas, although the next two steps are the most difficult. But the team is going in the right direction. They can compete against Chelsea ? they showed that in the FA Cup semi-final. They know how to play, and Rafa?s very shrewd tactically. Everybody appreciates the job he?s done here.?

Froze me bollix off in the Centenary but worth it to see KMD one more time.

Rush STILL won't give the defenders any time and Molby's weight of pass and pass selection is still there. Great to see Chico bursting (ambling surely!) down the right and the under-rated Whelan being available for a pass at any given moment. Those lads gave us some outstaning memories which we're privileged to have.

The gate was over 33,000 - which equates to roughly £330,000. Add on the tv money and the cash from the 13,000 text messages for the signed shirts on the telly, then I reckon Marina has pulled in somewhere in the region of half a million quid. Well done to all concerned.
