I got to witness the masterful defending of Djimi though!

That was a class goal from Morientes, thats the type of thing we have been missing from him all season. Just a shame its come too little too late for him.

i don't understand why people are writing Morientes off after just one season here... we all know he's a class striker who has the ability to produce goals & link up play as he's done @ Madrid, Monaco, & Spain...

people were writing off Pires, Henry, & others in the same way in their first season... maybe Morientes just needs some more time (i.e. more than one year) to adjust to the pace & rigor of the English game just as the others did...

Good points, but maybe it is too late, I guess it's up to Rafa. My gut feeling is he will stay on and if he is the competitor I think he is will have a much better next season, albeit playing a less important role in the side. A bit like RvN this year.

he has had one and a half seasons. I like Morientes, hes obviously classy and shows some nice touches but when i watch him he still wants too much time on the ball and he moves like a cart horse. hes had 18 months now and hasnt really fully adapted in my opinion. sad but true, if Rafa had to choose between Morientes and Fowler what would you say?

great goal from him... I have noticed a massive change in his work rate recently... he really is working hard for the cause and dropping back to help out.. He went up a few notches in my book last week in the semi when he chased down loads of balls when he came on...

But he will next season.

I find it interesting that some are quite willing to give Morientes a chance next season, yet would quite happily drive Cisse to the airport to make sure that he's not here next season.

IMO, they've both underperformed and should be moved on in the close season.

He's always worked hard though to be fair....

aye undoubtedly, but I mean in different areas.... hes really blending in well with the work ethic of the team... Would have been great if that volley on his left foot had gone in in the 2nd half.

theres a big difference.... Morientes doesn't sulk and give up on balls that are four yards out of reach....

Aye and Cisse is more of a goal threat there is a big differance.

They should both go neither of them have shown enough to stay.
