Guest Sabre Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 I got to witness the masterful defending of Djimi though!
Nebraska Red Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Villa goals 1-0 Morientes - http://green.uploadspider.com/file/5044/ 2-1 Gerrard - http://green.uploadspider.com/file/5046/ 3-1 Gerrard - http://green.uploadspider.com/file/5048/ After match bit - http://green.uploadspider.com/file/5052/ again, shamelessly borrowed from RAWK
Jim D Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 That was a class goal from Morientes, thats the type of thing we have been missing from him all season. Just a shame its come too little too late for him.
So Cal Red Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 That was a class goal from Morientes, thats the type of thing we have been missing from him all season. Just a shame its come too little too late for him. i don't understand why people are writing Morientes off after just one season here... we all know he's a class striker who has the ability to produce goals & link up play as he's done @ Madrid, Monaco, & Spain... people were writing off Pires, Henry, & others in the same way in their first season... maybe Morientes just needs some more time (i.e. more than one year) to adjust to the pace & rigor of the English game just as the others did...

Good points, but maybe it is too late, I guess it's up to Rafa. My gut feeling is he will stay on and if he is the competitor I think he is will have a much better next season, albeit playing a less important role in the side. A bit like RvN this year.

I like Morientes, hes obviously classy and shows some nice touches but when i watch him he still wants too much time on the ball and he moves like a cart horse. hes had 18 months now and hasnt really fully adapted in my opinion. sad but true, if Rafa had to choose between Morientes and Fowler what would you say?
So Cal Red Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 good point - it might just come down to a decision to choose between Moro & Robbie... & in that case, i'd go w/ Robbie.
stressederic Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Does Morientes hug the linesman after his goal?
Barnesy_10 Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 great goal from him... I have noticed a massive change in his work rate recently... he really is working hard for the cause and dropping back to help out.. He went up a few notches in my book last week in the semi when he chased down loads of balls when he came on...
_00_deathscar Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 He's always worked hard though to be fair....
Maldini Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Yesterday's goal was the sort of thing I expected from him when he signed, he's just not done it often enough
McBain Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 But he will next season. We said that 12 months ago His game just isn't suited to the Prem.
Barnes' left foot Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 But he will next season. I find it interesting that some are quite willing to give Morientes a chance next season, yet would quite happily drive Cisse to the airport to make sure that he's not here next season. IMO, they've both underperformed and should be moved on in the close season.
Barnesy_10 Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 He's always worked hard though to be fair....aye undoubtedly, but I mean in different areas.... hes really blending in well with the work ethic of the team... Would have been great if that volley on his left foot had gone in in the 2nd half. Aye and Cisse is more of a goal threat there is a big differance. They should both go neither of them have shown enough to stay.
_00_deathscar Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Aye and Cisse is more of a goal threat there is a big differance. Not if they're both playing to their full potential. Cisse is also lazy.
