By far the best manager of all the names linked.

As is said, only question should be "can he win the WC"

Scolari is the only one they can answer yes too with a straight face.

Hiddink would have been better IMO but Scolari is a much better choice than the likes of Allardyce

To be honest, the FA should have learnt its lessons from Graham Taylor. Allardyce,McLaren etc are simply not made out for international management, the tactics are just far beyond them.

I mean,imagine Allardyce vs Benitez,with one managing England,the other managing Spain. It's a no-contest.

The fact that the press are even pushing these names forward is hilarious.

That would be horrific, the gap in class would be grand canyon like.

He doesn't even speak English, how the hell can he be made manager? Absolutely crazy. Still a better choice than McLaren though.

Is it the same he who famously said that Portugal (as manager) would mark everyone on the Engand team except Phil Neville and just wait for him to give them the ball?

If so, it will be interesting to see if Moyes keeps up his 'pick Neville' campaign...

but he'll sound a heck of a lot better than Fat Frank talking with his gob full of pie, or Mc Laren with that horrible Manc accent.

anyway, who cares as everybody here seems to hate England.

he'll sort the balance of the england team out no problem but he'll drop some major players along the way and upset a few egos ,noone would be safe .

Fat Sam refuses to give up hope.

Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce insists that he is not out of the running for the England job.

Allardyce is now thought be one of the outsiders to replace Sven Goran Eriksson in the summer, after being one of the leading contenders when it was first announced the Swede would be leaving the job.

However, since then Allardyce's side have struggled to pick up results in The Premiership and many feel Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren and Portugal coach Luis Felipe Scolari are now favourites to take the job.

Allardyce believes he can still win over the selection panel as well as urging The Football Association to take their time.

their time.

"I'm still in the frame because no decision has been made yet. I haven't heard anything otherwise," said Allardyce.

"I've had my [interview] opportunity, and I hope that was good enough, but we will have to wait and see.

"I appreciate that for The FA this is the biggest decision they have had to make since appointing Sven.

"There's been a few changes in the structure at The FA since then, so those in position at the moment have a responsibility to take as long as they need to hopefully find the right man.

"At this moment I am just waiting to hear a decision has been made and what that decision is."

Allardyce also continued to back his belief that English managers do not get the credit they deserve and are often overlooked in favour of their foreign counterparts.

"Like everything else in this country, every job that becomes available is a worldwide attraction, not just confined to Europe or the British Isles," added Allardyce.

"I still feel English coaches have not been recognised as much as they deserve, and that it is fashionable to be a foreign coach in this country.

"All we can do is keep knocking on the door"

True, but didn't he pick russia because abramovic was helping to pay him a shed load of money.

Also the fact that the FA said they needed to interview him to decide if he was as good as Alladyce and for some reason he was offended.

Breaking News

The day began unpleasantly for residents of Kensington, as they awoke this morning to the sounds of a loud explosion and found themselves covered in bile. It is thought the source of the explosion was the Daily Mail offices on Derry Street. All that remains of the sports desk is the odd wispy tuft blonde hair where once Jeff Poweel proudly sat.

hehe. we have sold our birthright down the river to a man from the land of beautiful football.

When it comes to picking English managers, the FA overlooked the perfect choice, Wegner. But seeing as David Dein has sooo much power within the FA, that's a no-go. But Dein has got his way again, he chose Ericsson, and now his choice is Big Gene Hackman. As soon as Dein let it be known Big Gene was his choice, I went to the bookies and put £20 at 6-1. Easy money

i don't think wenger would take the job anyway. he's had too much experience of the english media.

That won't matter. The FA could always offer Jose Maurenho the chance to go back to his true profession as a translator.

We'll get loads of knobheads like Allardyce etc whinging now about how the new bloke should be English. IF THERE WERE ANY DECENT ENGLISH MANAGERS THEY'D GET THE JOB YOU f***NUTS BUT AS IT STANDS YOU'RE ALL s****.

Great thread this

Should certainly be interesting. Got to laugh at McLaren spending years as the assistant and presumed successor and getting bombed out.
