today plummed a new depth of ineptness and lack of effort, though - if that were possible.

Well he did have a go at Pepe after he failed to get the ball exactly to his feet from a throw out. Much handwaving ensued. He looked knackered after that.

but he was absolutely laughable today.

hopefully that is the end of that.

A dreadful footballer and a lazy c***, can you get any worse? Thankfully he'll be gone in the Summer, if some one is actually stupid enough to pay money for him.

Hello Mr Houllier...

To be honest Cisse will only perform at this level in side built entirely around him. He'll likely grab the 20 goals a season people want but he'll miss a s***load of chances and generally irritate all the fans (unless their Newcastle fans).

He looked decent against West Brom, mainly because he put some effort in and their defending was crap. Him playing out on the right wing making runs from deep, seems more and mroe to be a tool to stop him getting caught offside every 5 minutes.

When was the last time we made an 'unforced' sub at half time?

We weren't chasing the game, we hadn't already won the game and we never had a problem with injury... quite a surprising time to sub by Rafa and a clear indication of his frustration with Cisse.

How many different ways can you write "simply not good enough"?

that was pepe's fault.

Nah, if Cisse had a brain he'd have been making the move and Reina could have gone over the top but Cisse was stood still so he had to throw it to his feet, Cisse didn't even react to that and the defender beat him to it.

I thought Cisse was running and Pepe should have thrown it over Gardner - that was Pepe's fault that time. Djibs was poor todat though.

Playing poorly is one thing.

What I don't get is the lack of effort again.

After last week he worked hard for the team, then this? Dunno what is going on there.

the only surprising thing was that he didn't sub him earlier ;)

Being treated even remotely fairly would help.

Left wing right wing he's played anywhere but upfront.

You think it's ok for a player to no try then, cos he isn't playing in his favoured position?

If you think that's acceptable, then it explains a lot.

Doesn't seen to stop Gerrard from trying when he's playing right mid, or Risse, when he's playing left midfield. Or Garcia when he's playing right or left midfield.

As for that cruel Rafa tweating wittle Djibbers unfairly. Really, that's a bit childish isn't it? He's playing games, yet he isn't trying. No excuse for that.

If a player is in and out of the side, played out of position (by the way, Gerrard, Garcia and Riise are all midfielders so it isn't that huge a jump) then I'm not suprised he's a little narked.

You're right there is no excuse for not trying but you can understand it because we've all done it when we feel we're being treated unfairly.

Heskey was an average striker and a dreadful wide midfielder, but at least he generally tried wherever he was played, ceratinly more than Cisse does anyway.

If you feel you're being treated unfairly, you have two options. Sulk (lose respect of all around you, prove to boss you aren't a team player) or knuckle down and make the best of a 'bad job' (gain respect of team mates, fans, and manager).

Too often Cisse takes the first option. No one is bigger than the team, and if he doesn't want to be on the pitch then he should stub his toe the night before the game and let someone else play

Cisse will be moved on in the summer. We'll take a big loss, but that's what will happen.

He would probably have done better at Liverpool if he had played up front, but he clearly does not have the confidence of his manager to get an extended run in that position. Problems with running offside, poor touch, not linking up and the like, have resulted in him being moved out of the central striker's role to the right side of midfield.

Occasionally we see burst of effective pace (such as last week, when he cut inside, brought down Alonso's pass, knocked it past the goalie, and scored). These are the glimpses that tease us into thinking we have the genuine article on our hands. But alas, we do not. Rafa knows this and I'm sure it will be rectified in the summer.

In the meantime, if Djibs can show anything else like last week's form against West Brom, then we should have a buyer, and the price might even be decent (say £9M or so). But if he keeps on like yesterday, we may have to hawk him around and settle for £6-7M.

A shame, but that's what will happen IMO.

Reina can only throw so far. Cisse misread the intention, ie it was coming to his feet so he could lay it off. Hence Pepe's gestures after the fact. I would give Reina the benefit of the doubt.

Google fight proves it: ;)

Yes he can only throw it so far, just so happens that it's alot further than he threw it. He can punch the ball as far as it went yesterday.

He was told a few times yesterday to throw/kick over the top rather than taking it low and going for feet (Garcia had to tell him when he came on, Carragher told him against Everton as well that led to Garcia's goal).

You can blame Cisse for a lot of things yesterday. That wasn't one of them though.

In all fairness, he'd been crap up front loads of times before Rafa shoved him out on the right wing. People seem to conveniently forget that when they try to defend his ineptitude.

It amazes me though - the moment he puts himself back in with an outside chance of staying here with a couple of decent game he decides he decides he can't be arsed again...

think being subbed off at half-time was quite a pointer. he was garbage.

I think you won't see him in a Liverpool jersey again! (Hopefully!)
