IgPig Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Its a final anything is possible, didnt last year teach you that? It did. But the reasons miracles are miracles and not just things that happen quite a lot, is because they don't happen often. Like Oscar Wilde, me.
Guest RedLegend Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Fair play to him. Still hope they get pumped mind.
anny road Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Fair play to him. Still hope they get pumped mind. same here
Tetti Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Don't care how they do either way. After how I felt tonight I might just go out to the cinema. Paris was to have been ours. In Athens , Greece, we'll win it 6 times..... Tiem to book up, I think
Jim D Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Wenger last season...........this was before the Champions League Final. "Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Liverpool are "lucky" to be in the Champions League at all.Liverpool are facing the agony of winning the trophy but not being able to defend it if they finish lower than fourth in the Premiership this season. But Wenger said: "Normally they should not have played in this cup. They are lucky to be in it because of the advantage this country has in having four qualifying places. Most countries have only three." Wenger, whose side were knocked out by Bayern Munich in the last 16, believes the Champions League is no longer a guide to the best teams in Europe."The European Cup has been a complete cup competition - like Millwall reaching the FA Cup final - and maybe we will have Coventry in next year's final," he said."It has convinced me even more that you cannot make a priority of the Champions League. It has to be the Premiership."In the championship you have to be consistent and that is a real reflection of your consistency in a season." Bet he has changed his tune recently.
dyl Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 If only Wenger hadn't been so scathing of our run and victory, and of the competition in general last season, I'd be totally happy for them Exactly! Nice words from Henry - but the damage was done by Whinger last year I'm afraid. Gerrin Barca!
monkey puzzle Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 He also harped on about playing 5 in midfield and one up front. Hope they get humped in the final
slapnuts Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I cant stand Arsenal. I dont want them to win either.
Guest lollyfi Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 (edited) Wenger last season...........this was before the Champions League Final.Bet he has changed his tune recently. 4 teams in europe v usual 3 - due to our euro sucess & relevant points accumulated you sour sod...hope you get tonked....there is no place for ungracious types like you no more....rafa is here to show the way ....how to be truelly great.....behave with the same honour in victory & defeat!! Swipe Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Henry is a t*** and I hope they get hammered in the final. Barca all the way!
Mondavi Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Not withstanding Henry's gracious comments, frankly Arsenal can get hammered on the 17th as far as I'm concerned. Agree entirely with those above quoting Wenger's comments from last season. In the last 2 years he has been a bitter, twisted pr**k, and I for one hope he doesn't get his hands on old big ears. His team have played some scintilating football at times over the last 5 years or so, but his bitterness and jealousy from last season still p**s me off. Plus, it'd be fitting if Big Teeth could get his hands on Big Ears....
hideNseek Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Be careful what you wish for. CL winners, bloody big new stadium, loads of cash, great manager, 2nd best player in the world on their books, some v. promising youngsters establishing themselves... Prefer it if they lose the final in humiliating fashion, Henry does one, and they're left with the bill for a bloody big new stadium to pay without CL money. For a rival team Arsenal are alright, but cocking hell, do we really want to strengthen them? Well said.
Leroy Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Arsenal 3 AC Milan 0 Half Time Arsenal 3 AC Milan 3 Extra Time 3 3 Penalties ?????????

Elisha_Scott Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Henry is a fantastic player and a top man as well. But, he plays for Arsenal and I hope they get f***ed in the final.
Guz Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Seeing a "European cup winners enclosure" banner in the away section at Anfield would be extremely painful. Not to mention anything that weakens our rivals (or doesnt strengthen them) is a good thing

reniformis Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 I don't begrudge Arsenal the glory of winning the Champions League as that only strengthens their history, which at the moment is not a threat to us. I do begrudge them the money that comes with it as will strengthen their future, which is a threat to us. So on balance I hope they lose. Not badly or anything, only to keep them out of next years competition to balance things out.
Cheesecake Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 and a reminder to those of you watching at home that no English team has won the European Cup since Liverpool in Istanbal 2 years ago, now can they repeat the feat here is Greece... Liverpool against Bayern Munich kicks off next... cue music...
Guest Kev Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Torn between the devil and the deep blue sea. Want them to do well but not win it
RP Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 (edited) They've done well to get there - now I hope they get stuffed 10-0. Edited April 26, 2006 by RP
fred milne Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Interviewed on the pitch after the game he goes off topic to say thanks to Stevie G for being an inspiration to the Arsenal boys this season and congrats for winning the PFA Award, it was well deserved and he should have won it years ago. What a man!!!It was a nice gesture but an odd one all the same. I wonder what the reaction would have been if Gerrard had said something similar straight after the semi-final against Chelsea last season.

I doubt they will go on a spending spree, they have never been like that, they will buy one or two players at most.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if Gerrard had said something similar straight after the semi-final against Chelsea last season. not really the same, though as Henry isn't linked with us in the papers all the time... I read an article a few months back saying that Arsenal are using our campaign in the CL as inspiration for themselves..If Henry had harped on about Ronaldinho and Barca straight after then yeah could understand that being a bit wierd
fred milne Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 not really the same, though as Henry isn't linked with us in the papers all the time... I didn't mean Gerrard making those comments about someone from Chelsea necessarily.
