ESPN2 has exceeded itself this week by showing a Jump Rope competition instead of the Barca v Milan CL game.

not strictly correct.

as part of the contract up to this year ESPN had the first and showed one game per game week. From the Quarterfianl the contract stipulated that they showed 2 games per game week so the Semi's were all Live nationwide last year.

 

this year they have negociated to just one game per gameweek the whole year - IE they wanted to give up the rights to shw both.

 

Setanta jumped at the chance to show the second game as they could then do it on PPV.

 

basically ESPN and their paymaster Disney do not give a f*** about the game.
