Ronnie Whelan Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 is f***ing boss. Indeed he is. Has really turned his liverpool career around this season. I also expect a big world cup from him.
Rushian Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 gives us tremendous balance which is part of the reason we've seen a marked improvement this season but to me his goal record and crossing could be better.

anfield Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 I dont understand all this to be honest, he has improved us to no end on the left but mostly cause we were cack there to begin with. he has no pace, cant get past players, scores few goals and as Rushian said his crossing would be better.......time for Gonzalez

madskilz Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 you don't have to understand I don't understand why so many are reluctant to give him any praise, he still hasn't reached back to his best yet (which he admits himself) but his quality is returning and he has made himself an integral part of the team again.
Guz Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 He is a long way off his best but as said above, he gives us much needed balance on the left side. His distribution is also neat and tidy sometimes but he should offer a lot more than just being tidy in posession. Also seems to have lost all of his pace which is a great dissapointment. Generally pleased with his season though. The biggest thing is he is playing regularly.
Guest RedIsMyColour Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 His lack of goals are the only concern.

I think he's been a disappointment really.
anfield Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 he's been decent really but the problem is we were all expecting the harry kewell of old to show up at some point and it looks like it just won't happen

smithdown Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Yous are arlarse. Do you not remember what he was like last season? He was a total tw*t. He's mustard now in comparison.
Bootle Buck Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 He has been better than he was. However, that was pretty abysmal. I don't think the site of Kewell will puty the fear into any FB's as it would have in 2001. He is a much better user of the ball and gets back to defend much better but he doesn't offer very much in the terms of attacking and taking players on. I wouldn't be surprised to see him off loaded when Gonzalez becomes established.

I think from now on that position is a better match for his skill set.
Guest Scot Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Good to see him improve, still a shadow of the player he should be
Dule Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Harry is going to play as a second striker next year. Rafa always liked playing Harry (when fit) in the second striker position with Baros last year. He does not need as much pace up front as he does on the wing, and that will give him a great lease of life.
ozziecazzie Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 He's great on the ball, and would have a much greater assist stat if those on the end of his crosses and passes had a greater conversion rate. If he plays a more central role, which could very well be the case next season, he'll get more goals. He couldn't even run properly last year, let alone with pace. He has lost a lot of his pace, which I don't believe that he'll get back. Despite this, his recovery has been remarkable, his time on the field unbelievable and his effort outstanding. He turned the Oz WC qualifier on it's head when he came on, and he hasn't looked back since. He is class, and I doubt that Rafa will get rid.... even if he ends up as a classy squadie!
Dule Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 I think Crouch needs to work on his agressivness in the air. He needs to practice attacking the ball more like Duncan Ferguson. To many times this year Kewell has put a great ball into the box, only for Crouchy to pussy tap the ball with his head for some reason. It happens when we do our set pieces to Crouch also. Only 2 times this year can i remember when he attacked the ball (Newcastle home, Manchanter FA CUP) and he scored on both occasions. RAfa really really needs to try and make him more agressive over the summer, because he could easily score 4-9 goals more in the season with his head if he did so.

He should get lessons from Garcia and Kewell for starters about heading...
