steviegw Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Only been living in the UK for 5 years. My first FA Cup game was the 2001 Final. Saturday will be the first FA Cup Semi that I will be attending.
Jeff guitar Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Liverpool 3 v Palace 4 at Villa Park 1990? One of the most emotional rollercoasters of a game i've ever been too.
anny road Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Highbury vs Portsmouth '92. Ronnie Whelan, get in! i didnt know until I got home (like 5 hours later) that Ronnie had bagged that I thought it was Digger
Guest PaulMcC Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Never been to one and haven't been confirmed for a ticket in the ballot yet. maybe next year will be my first.
Poolfrog Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 The first semi-final I went to was in 1974 at Old Trafford when we drew 0-0 with Leicester, I never went to the replay as I had an exam the following day . 1971 at Old Toilet when we beat the blues**** 2-1. In those days the away end there had no roof over it - although we had the Stretford End on the day
Guest Ant Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 '01 Semi, I went the Final as well. And A Horn was born
Lou Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 The first of the 3 games against Arsenal in the marathon semi-final of 1980. Submitting the nervous system to one semi-final is bad enough but three added up to way too much stress.
Guest PaulMcC Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Got my ticket confirmed. Thsi will be my first.
fyds Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 71 against the blueshyte. I had a ticket for '65 but missed out as I was in Alder Hey.
HeWonItFromBrock Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 (edited) Hillsborough - not been to one since, but I have my ticket for Saturday. Edited April 18, 2006 by HeWonItFromBrock
Bootle Buck Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 The infamous Clive Thomas game at Maine Road. We couldn't find my mates Dad's car afterwards and had to thumb it home. He wasn't too happy as we got home before him as he waited for us in the parking lot for about 4 hours afterwards.
sirstan Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 white hart lane in 86. a nice 2-0 win for the reds and a nice 8-1 touch on West Tip in the national to pay for the day out. Likewise, not that comfortable as I recall - Saints took us to extra time before 2 Rushie goals sunk them
Paul B Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 That was half empty wasn't it? Tickets were a rip off and there was a bit of a protest I think. And yet this year, tickets are going for up to a tenner more than then (okay, I know it was a decade ago but inflation hasn't risen that much) and yet we are queueing up to pay it, and more from scalpers, for this year at the same ground! WTF's going on there?
nrkintheuk Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Vs Man Ure at Woodison, '85 I think it was. 2-2 Paul Walsh scored 2 last minute equalizers (one normal time, one ET) but we missed the second cos me Dad made us leave early (scared of mum & late for tea!). . I've never left a game early since.
Guest Portly Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 1965 Semi v Chelsea at Villa Park. I enjoyed that match even more than the Final. At that time Chelsea were considered to be the class team, and when the press were being nice about Liverpool, they called us a "machine." The script was that Chelsea were going to give us a football lesson. As it turned out, it was men against boys. Peter Thompson scored a great goal in front of the Liverpool fans, cutting in from the wing, and then I think Willie Stevenson scored a penalty later on. I think that match was a turning-point - the media were more respectful about Shankly's team after that.
