Barnesy_10 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Just wondering what pubs will be 'safe' before the game next saturday? Not been to OT before so not got a clue where to go.. Anyone got any ideas?
Benitez Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 none. You have to smuggle yourself into Old Trafford, without showing your face anywhere within the greater Manchester area before the game
FakeNewsBear Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 heard that scarf sellers are gonna be selling markers so that can fans can leave there mark and man u have ordered 7000 replacement seats
oakie bob Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 think it would be great to take over the city centre saturday afternoon.............get the 5 times chant going........come on there are feck all Man Ure fans in Manchester
Armin_Tamzarian Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Just wondering what pubs will be 'safe' before the game next saturday? Any pub that might have been safe before being named on the internet will automatically become dodgy. If you or people with you don't know Manchester you're probably better doing your drinking outside. I don't think a public message board is a good place to plan something like this, who knows who is reading?
Barnesy_10 Posted April 17, 2006 Author Posted April 17, 2006 good point Armin... I want to categorically say I will not, I repeat WILL NOT be drinking anywhere between now and 5:15pm next Saturday can't we somehow lock the 'spoiler' function to fans of teams who have won the European Cup 5 times??

That's thinking like it's a game V Man Utd where they'll have 60,000 odd and we'll have 3,000 max. Don't forget, we and Chelsea will be in a vast majority and I reckon any Mancs will stay well clear. After all, there's unlikely to be much demand for coaches from Devon and Fife for a game in which their team aren't even playing, is there? I reckon virtually everywhere will be pretty safe. Somhow, 60,000 Liverpool and Chelsea fans will decend on various parts of Manchester that day, and there will be places that'll be openly full of fans. Whatever people say about being secretive, thats all well and good, and their prerogtive. But not all these fans are gonna fit into two local bars in a couple Manchester suburbs
Paul B Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 But not all these fans are gonna fit into two local bars in a couple Manchester suburbs Unless they are the Tardis Bar and the Tardis Arms!
anny road Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 i disagree with Bran and Paul here i think there is potential for big trouble in Manc City Centre on Sat afternoon I wouldnt touch Deansgate with a barge pole
Guest PaulMcC Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I hope i get a ticket. I'm travelling tol it anyway. Maybe pick up a spare.

Paul B Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Seriously though, you think with the huge numbers of us there that there could be trouble? And who do you think will be up for it? Mancs or Cockneys? (I'd see a Scouse/Cockney alliance to defeat the Manchester hordes on their own midden!)

Benitez Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 top end of Deansgate is ok But the town part of Deansgate is always crap, even without the footy, its always the area of town full of idiots getting aled up at the weekend. Actually, I remember other semi finals (other teams like!), and people tended to go round Castlefield as well, cos it's quite close by, but still away from Old Trafford, the area. But of course, there could be trouble, and no doubt there will be some idiots on all sides. I think people are being sensible like going elsewhere and keeping away till near kickoff. But I also fully expect a lot of fans of both Chelsea and us to be out in areas of Manchester, in the city, and places like Castlefield, and for them to be ok.
slapnuts Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I think it could get naughty with the Mancs to be honest if you get brayed it will be your big gob getting you in to trouble I'll bet Hopefully some one will film it on there mobile too. Anny Slapped
Cunny Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I heard that there was a lot of trouble at the last Chelsea v Man City game. City fans are wanting revenge, so there could well be trouble. Are there any special trains going from Liverpool, stopping at OT on Saturday?
Big E Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 (edited) Samuel Platts, near our side of the ground about 2 mins walk away, has been asked by Manc Plod to be a designated LFC pub. There's plans for a big marquee outside, as it has a big car park type area. It's a big place too, similar to the Fernhurst (Blackburn) in terms of size. virtually if not all the pubs in Manchester have said they don't want LFC fans, but the police have insisted that some of them do as they don't want us just roaming the streets. Sam Platts is one of the main ones planned for LFC. I'll be able to confirm 100% this later in the week - at the moment they are saying no, but it looks like they won't have much choice. Guest SteMano Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 There's that big pub just on the canal on-route to the sh*t pit, just before the bridge (can't recall the name) Normally loads of designated parking on that road as well. I think the coaches normally park down there as well but can't be sure.
Andy @ Allerton Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 30-35,000 pissed up Scousers 30-35,000 pissed up Cockneys x,000 pissed up Man U fans x,000 pissed up Man Citeh fans 14,000 pissed up whatever the FA have given the extra tickets to fans + x,000 pissed up Mancs that don't care about footy.. All squashed somewhere around Manc City Centre. Should make entertaining viewing on news at 10 anyway.
Guest SteMano Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Sam Platts has been confirmed as an LFC friendly pub. As above it's a big place, near the ground so out of town and less likely to be visited by any mancs. That's where I'm gonna be with the lads. It's staggering distance from the cesspit.
