According to todays Echo, he's being forced to have more surgery on his knee and that'll put him out for another 3 months. If he isn't able to get fit before the new season in August, it won't look too good for the big man.

 

It's a real shame, as he is a great finisher but it looks like his time is up at Liverpool with all the changes coming up in the Summer.

Honest player, hard worker, loves the club - unfortunately it probably won't work out for him here.

 

I hope it goes well for him elsewhere though - and that he comes out of these several injury problems he seems to be having ATM.

Hope he gets to play again, it'd be a shame for a career to end this way when he's so young. He's never been a top division quality player, though.

I wonder though, if - big's 'ifs', granted - had he not had his run of injuries over the years, had he got a run sooner, would things have been different?

he hasnt got what it takes Will, i know he has been injured, but even when fit and on loan at West Ham and wigan, he just hasnt cut it. i honestly think he will have to drop a division or two to find his level

he was fit for plenty at West ham reserves. he isnt good enough, your blind faith in every player to pull on the red shirt is commendable, but sometimes, players just arent good enough to make the grade at the top level, and sentiment never won anything

They played him as a #10 behind two front men, he was never ever going to excel at that.

i dont know the in's and outs of the surgery he has had, or is going to have, as like you, i have had no formal medical training. but to say the injury is career threatening, when that may not be the case, unless his career is only expected to be 3 months long, is a bit over the top

not according to a (ex) team mate of his
