Myself and another red mate met Aldo and Kevin Sheedy in a Dublin nightclub a few years ago.

I took the opportunity to thank him for being an integral part of the best club side I'd ever seen as well as having one of the most thankless jobs in International football under Jack Charlton. We were having a bit of a yap with them and all was going well. I ran upstairs to find another one of the lads who was a huge Aldo fan, leaving him with me mate Wheels, who's never had a lot of tact.

Rushing back downstairs with the other Liverpool fan, we found Wheels standing on his own with a big serious head on him.

"Where's Aldo gone?", I asked him.

"He f*cked off", replies Wheels.

"Why? What did you say to him?", my other mate asked.

"I asked him how the hell did he miss that f*cking penalty in 1988."

We weren't pleased.

Had photo taken a couple of times with Dalglish, once with Craig Johnstone and also Graeme Souness and chatted with them as well. Had a chat with Shanks many moons ago in the trophy room after the match. Also have spoken to Thommo, Houiller and then told Benitez this season that if we didn't beat brum in the cup he'd be named in my divorce papers

I really wish I could have met Shanks. I met Rafa and had my picture shaking hands with him next to the European Cup on the 25th of May last year. I was awestruck to be honest.

have met King Kenny (and his beautiful daughter) in the Nou Camp when we played Barca in the UEFA Cup - got him to sign my ticket and i still have it to this day (the only autograph i've ever had, will likely have, have asked for or will want!)..

Sammy Lee grew up with my arl girl so i knew him when i was younger.. while i was the same size as him at 13 i'm even bigger now so he may not recognise me!..

i went to school (Nugent) with Robbie Fowler and have seen him a few times since and had a bev with him..

have met Phil Neal a few times - top bloke.. was with him when Martin Tyler went past this season up in Sunderland's ground and Tyler remarked that he was going to mention in his commentary about Neal's record of games played because these "nancy's like Frank Lampard who have played x amount of games dont know they're born.."

have met Rafa too - if only briefly.. plus a couple of the other current players and staff.. think thats it..

When I was mascot I met a fair few of the players. The only ones I spoke to were Alan Hansen (who said to stick close to him), and Craig Johnston (who gave me a pep talk on the pitch).

When i stood on the sidelines after to get a phonto taken with the dugout in the background Kenny tapped me on my shoulder, asked if i wanted a photo and sat me on his knee, telling me what a good job i did as mascot!! :D :D

I've also met:

Aldo - in his bar

Luis Garcia in John Lennon Airport - Ben said "Ola Luis" and he said "Ola" back.

Luis Garcia and Milan Baros in the Main Stand when they were out injured.

I spoke with Geoff Strong in the Directors Lounge for a bit whilst watching the Newcastle v Everton game before we played Arsenal. He said "you're a really funny guy"

Sammy Lee thanked me for going to the match after Bolton away when we were at the same do in The Vines. He bought me a beer as well!!

I asked Sammy Lee, Ian St John, Jimmy Case, and Brian Hall for autographs in the directors lounge.

I think that's about it!

I met Alan Hansen at Heathrow on his way back from Spain after the 0-0 Barca game a few years ago. I asked him if he felt we had a chance back at Anfield and said If defend like last night then yes.

No more words were spoken

sounds tense...

When Dalglish first moved to Liverpool, He used to come into the newsagents were I worked as a lad every week with his children. This was a time when it was a lot easier for players to go around un-noticed.

I used to chat with him all time, but never got any free stuff...

I got Kenny to sign my coat once after a match. When I got home my mum went apes*** about ruining my good coat.

Years later I bumped into Kenny in Wilmslow and stopped him and told him I got him to sign it. He said 'I bet it doesnae fit you now'

It was around the time that Roy Evans was being linked with the Wigan post I think, or it may even have been Preston NE, and I got flustered and asked if he was going to manage them. He said 'what paper did you read that in!' heavy with derision at the idea. Felt a right divvy walking away when I realised it was Uncle Roy who had been mentioned in the papers.

Met Digger and Rushie in a bank, not long after Barnes had made yet another injury comeback and scored a hat-trick at Crewe, I think. My mate went up to him and said: "You're John Barnes, aren't you?" "Yes..." he said, probably expecting the worst. Then all my mate could think of was, "My mum thought that back heel the other day was really good!" "Oh, thanks..."

Met Nicky Tanner and Mike Marsh in The Philharmonic about two hours after they played in a drab win against Spurs, the days when there seemed to be 30 offsides a game... My dad said to Tanner, "How'd you enjoy the game today?" and he just looked at him like he was scum of the Earth...

And Peter Beardsley, the day after he'd signed from Everton for Newcastle. He was coming out of the newsagent's on Mount Pleasant, loaded with tabloids, chocolates and crisps.

I just said "Good luck Peter!", he said "thanks", and then went over and sat on the bus-stop bench opposite. A crowd gathered to watch him stuff his inimitable face and read his rags. We wondered whether he knew he'd signed for the Toon yet and wanted to see his face when he found out...

I met Xabi, Pako and Rafa in the Pan-American after the Chelsea semi last year (as did a fair few on here) - Robbie, Macca, Luis and Nunez were also in there. I told Xabi he was "a legend", but I think he was more fussed by the bevvy of beauties around him. Rafa was a true gentleman, posing for photos with us incredibly pished up mob at about 2 in the morning after we'd gatecrashed the private section of the bar when the bouncer disappeared for a moment

Met Rafa again at this year's AGM, and got him to sign my Annual Report. Sat right behind all the coaching staff at the 2003 AGM as well - managed to shake Sammy Lee's hand at the end and tell him that he was my hero as a child

Met Pako in A Coruna when Anny Road failed to persaude him to join us for a beer at about 3am

Thommo at one of the European Cup nights at Anfield this season - he made some cheeky crack about my looks compared to RP's (why??? ) - I told him he could "f*cking talk"

Phil Neal in the lounge before a game (Southampton in the League Cup?) when he particuarly enjoyed Vic asking him why he'd missed a pen against Brighton in the FA Cup

Tommy Smith at some Sportsman's Dinner in Ascot

That's all I can remember for now...

Back in the 1974..

:applause: fkin great story that Mark lad..

I remember one time when John Scales was playing for us and i was invited to a party for the opening of the brand new Wade Smith store in Mathew Street.. there was a few 'celebs' there including Scales and he happened to be taking a glass of champagne off the same waitress tray as me and a mate.. we give it the usual "alright John" and go to walk but my mate Paul says "ay John, something i've always wanted to ask you mate" and he says "whats that?" and Paul says "oh no, it's alright.. i feel a bit cheeky.. forget it" and Scales goes "no it's fine, go on".. Paul said to him "exactly what was it like shagging Bo Derek?".. Scales just smiled and walked away..
