The overrated vs. the underrated

McManaman for me. But I am not one of those who would ever slag Garcia off as he has qualities I really admire such as mental and physical toughness and a clear desire to play through any pain that comes his way. I wish other players showed that same determination. No name, no pack drill, eh, cobber?

Mcmanaman was a great talent and very good player, everything went through him

 

But he was a s***house at times..esp v Everton.....

Luis Garcia gets a lot of stick from many quarters. There seems to be a 'love him/he's useless' POV, with little middle ground.

 

I'll admit, from time to time he can be frustrating, but the good times vastly outweigh the bad.

 

So who would people prefer at our club? A McManaman circa 95/96 or a LG circa 05/06 - in other words, at their respective best?

I don't hate or love garcia actually. I love his attitude and willingness but when he does something f*cking stupid it pisses me off. He seems to do it in equal measures.

 

Good question though. I think mcmanaman as for 3 years he really was superb and we haven't replaced him for about 8 years or whatever. Not since Kewell picked up that injury v Bolton anyway.

 

I really miss that type of player/him.

he scored in the semi v barca and came on in the final. Did cisse not win the CL last year

 

I'd take McManaman up until his final year and half or so with us, when he was awful.

 

He decided he was a playmaker and was too good to dribble which was bizarre as he was ace at that. Far moreso than he was at anyhthing else
