I'm trying to watch a DVX show I downloaded. The file size is about 700 meg.

Within 15 or so seconds, my CPU usage goes up to 100% and within a couple of minutes, the picture is lagging around a minute behind the sound.

I've got the latest codecs, I have no other programmes running, and have shut down as many background programms as possible, but it makes no difference.

I'm thinking that kicking the machine to pieces or taking a hammer to it might make me feel better in the short term, but it's no long term solution. The machine is a Vaio, Pentium4, 2.8Ghz. It only has 512 Meg of Ram, but this has never been a problem before. I will also add that the machine is now 2 years old, so the 'self destruct' chip will no doubt have been activated.

But any advice would be appreciated, as it's basically impossible to enjoy a show when the sound and vision are so out of sync. And it makes me very angry, so much so, I was forced to set fire to my neighbor's cat, and if it goes to court, I'll be blaming it on my computer.
