I know Cunny, but in the US teams and locality mean little in terms of how rooted they are in the community - I'd say that Franchise has evolved into having that meaning as that is what they essentially are - a brand you can uproot, rather than an alternative word for sports team.

I thought kraft called us a great brand rather than franchise but could be wrong, not like theres a huge difference I suppose. Rather be called a great football club but they are americans so.....

Wonder if the Mancs have OOTer debates. Bet they daren't in case the locals become OOTers within the next few years

No doubt they'll have considered moving the franchise to London. Would make a great windup to the manc fans if a rumour got around that they are considering moving the club lock stock and barrel to London and take up home in the new Wembley. The sale of Old Trafford would pay off a good chunk of the debt.
