Andy @ Allerton Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Still going on about Genres, I'm about to review all my music into genres, but rather than having an irrelevant web link to a bunch of americanised genres - would someone that actually knows something about music Ostrich Man, Will, Charlie Clown etc. give me a quick example of (say) 20 genres or so - so I can apply them to the stuff as I go through.. If you could pick 20 genres then maybe have an example or two against each one - that would be great.. I'm only after broad genres (if you have to go above 20 - that's great too!) I'll review them and pick the ones I actually understand and can identify and update the Database with those.. For example.. REGGAE: Buffalo Soldier (Bob Marley), One in Ten (UB40) The aim is to have a tree with basic types of Genre - then maybe a few subsections with those subgenres which are useful to have. Something else useful would be a brief description of the genre - so I can identify it.. Most genre sites you look at have a ridiculous number of genres on offer that are just confusing - there must be solid genres which are identifiable and also useful. For instance what genre could be assigned to: U2OasisUltravoxDepeche ModeNew OrderTalk Talk This is where I can't decide.. Or something like that..
