how effing good is Stevie Finnan? Not his greatest game yesterday but solid as hell. Added a bit of bite to his game and his distribution is still excellent.

Thanks.

made this comment during the match yesterday. paul wilson in the observer reckons that pascal chimbonda has been the steadiest, most consistent right-back in the league this season. i think it's been finnan by a long, long way.

Was asked when we bought him, who could he be likened to. The first name that sprung to mind was Denis Irwin, but I think he's a better all-round player than Irwin. Will never get the goals Dinny got though. Loved the way he doubled up on Faye and won a corner out of nothing.

Something that I like and dislike in equal amounts is his lazy style. He can appear really ploddy at times and lacks urgency but he does everything very calmly. Doesn't ever panic.

'Ploddy', not heard that used before. I think his ability to stay calm far outweighs any propensity to be casual. Best right back in the league for me.

Wasn't it Tigana that suggested he was the most technicaly efficientl right back he's seen. Ever.

I still think he is the most consistant crosser of a ball we have at the club, I would like to see him take our corners for a while and see if we are any more productive.

Said the same thing yesterday. Having Finnan take them would free up Stevie G to be in the box (he's not bad at heading the ball after all), with Xabi and Riise left on the outskirts of the area to pick up any clearances or long-shots

Who's on the halfway line here?

Irwin was very very good. I think he is about on par with him though, which says a lot about Finnan.
