BOLTON WANDERERS suffered their fourth successive defeat on Sunday when they lost 1-0 at Anfield to Liverpool.

Stelios missed an easy opportunity to put the away side in the lead when he failed to connect properly with his shot, birthday-boy Robbie Fowler then gave Liverpool the lead just before the end of the first half which proved to be the only goal of the game.

Allardyce said: "If he [Fowler] keeps scoring goals they will keep him for themselves.

"That goal is what he is all about and shows why he has scored so many in his career. He mis-hit that shot - but it was on target and bobbled in.

"He makes sure that, however he connects, the ball is on target. We had a couple of excellent chances early on but didn't get them on target.

"We should have snuffed him out - he had time and space to score like that. We dominated the first half, and the last thing I expected was to go in at the break one down.

"That killed us off. It certainly knocked the lads back - and although they tried hard, they did not have the belief after the break to get back into it.

"We paid the ultimate price for creating chances and not taking them. If you want to play in Europe then you have to score when you are on top, because that gives you the drive to keep going when teams like Liverpool come back at you."

Next England manager obviously.

Scotlands saga with the German will look like a stroke of genius in comparison

The moment he hit that I knew it was in, it was that clinical, you just knew their keeper was beaten, mis hit my a***. It was a poor game, they were better than us in the 1st half, but were never much of a threat.

In other words Sam wants him at Bolton - but won;t stand achance if LFC offer him a contract. Therefore try to put doubts in te mind of Rafa about him and sam can pick him up for nothing.

Allardyce can say all he wants, it's just hot air in the end the result is in the record books (what does it say about them if they get beaten my a miss-hit shot?), and Bolton are showing their true middle of the table form, whch is exactly where that lot belong. Well, they really belong in the championship but hey. Horrible club full of the dreggs.

So now players are able to plan a mis*** to go on target?? Sure every shot ever would be on target then! I wonder does fat sam read his own quotes the following day and then slap himself on the forehead shouting 'D'oh!'?

Davies for England?

Brought to you from Fat Sams fatter journo freind, who is by the way a cvnt.

Alan Nixon

THE words "no comment" rarely pass the lips of Big Sam Allardyce - except when the subject turns to whether Bolton's run of form has hit his chances of being the next England boss.

Allardyce normally shoots from the hip on any and every subject and is all the more popular and human for doing so. In short, he is good value.

But the silence is far from golden as Wanderers wearily head for the end of a campaign that should have had a far better finish than they - and their manager - deserve.

In fact, the only noise is of dull thuds to the tune of the death march striking at the heart of Allardyce's beat-the drum case for the international job. steve McClaren grins his way to UEFA Cup success and a possible FA Cup final date and even Alan Curbishley has a trophy to put in Charltons cabinet and on his own CV. But ardyce has to hope that the FA have long memories and do not dismiss the Bolton fade-out as proof of the theory that his master plan is based on huff and puff - and out of both right now.

In the past few weeks since Big Sam put his head above the parapet and pushed for the England job he has found many enemies waiting for him.

There have been snipes about his transfer dealings, although some may have been ill-advised if not illegal, plus ludicrous criticism of the way he stoutly defends his side against attacks from the likes of radio's Alan Green.

Even the accusation that he is too loud and in your face is nonsense when England are crying out for a cheerleader.

But in the end his biggest enemy could be within and his side's failure to find a Plan B when the steam goes out of the engine room and the machine grinds to a halt.

In the current climate - when any fickle excuse can rule out a candidate - Bolton's stagger has come at the wrong time.

Skipper Kevin Nolan was always up against it in midfield and looks a bit tired. But it's not too late for him to stake an England claim. He will keep going - it's what he does.

And Kevin Davies is truly unlucky that Peter Crouch will be ahead of him on the plane to the World Cup. If England wanted a physical option there is no debate that he should be there instead.

Crouch does not have the muscle to go with the height. Better still, you could take both

I hate Jabba the Hut with a passion - he's such a fat plonker.

All I can think is he was obstructed for the Fowler shot by Princess Leia who was chained to his leg...

Fowler did not hit the ball as cleanly as he might, so there might be an element of truth in Allardyce's words, but certainly no grace.

Fowler has great skill, and when you hit a ball out of the air the first priority is to keep it down. Fowler did that perfectly, by hitting the ball downwards. This took the pace off the shot, so that might be why Allardyce said it was a miss hit.

Fowler's shot was very accurate - and this is where he is peerless IMO. Despite not travelling over the line at the greatest speed, it still gave the goalie no chance because it was right in the corner.

A fair assessment would say that Fowler showed great technique in taking that goal. He has made a career of scoring such goals.

Alonso's shot was hit as sweet as you like and it nearly snapped the base of the post. But I'd have taken a Fowler-like 'miss hit' coupled with Fowler's accuracy. It would have been inside the post and 2-0 and cruising. But Xabi was unlucky, since he was only a tiny fraction out.

Maybe it would be better to highlight the shooting of Gerrard and Riise during yesterday's game. They both found themselves in decent shooting positions at one time or another, and it's fair to say that they both struck the ball a lot more cleanly than Fowler.

But only Robbie came away from that game with a goal.

The ball went exactly where Fowler intended it to go - which is why calling it a mis-hit is f*cking ridiculous.

Cisse's cross which went in against Portsmouth was a good example of a 'mis-hit' you'd feel unlucky to lose to. He never intended it as a shot let alone for it to go into the top corner.

Fowler's wasn't struck perfectly, but it was directed perfectly and very deliberately. It was a great finish in my book.

Perhaps if the fat t*** had a striker who could get into double figures for a season, he might understand their art...

Fowler's goal was not miss-hit at all. In fact is was beautifully taken. Watching it on sky sports they showed it over and over, the commentators were full of praise describing how Robbie made a quick decision to get the ball on the half volley, but not follow through with his leg to ensure it was kept low. There was no other way that shot could have been made - so that makes it a miss-hit? His technique was nothing but the classic poaching-style that Fat Sam only wishes he had in his horrible cvnt of a football team.
