Knox_Harrington Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 You can't be offside from a throw in you thick c***. You are a linesman. It's your job to know the offside rule. It isn't obscure, it isn't a "grey area", it's a basic tenet of the rule. You can't be offside from a throw in. Unbelievable.

Knox_Harrington Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 That was a f***ing disgrace, they nearly scored straight from that free kick aswell. He was absolutely dreadful. It's not just that though. This fella has come through leagues right the way up to running the line in the top division. Has he not known all the way through about that rule? Or was he simply not paying attention? And if so has he been like that for years too? That's what frustrates me. I don't think referees have it in for clubs or anything like that but I honestly believe there is a significant number of officials who simply don't have the knowledge or the ability to do their jobs properly.
Earl Hafler Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 First half, about twenty in. Must have been fetching another bottle. Typical

Rule 1/4 says that 'the offside rule applies also if, from a thrown in, the ball is thrown from the attacking team's half into the opposing team's half....' No your football sunny! I said to my dad who i was watching it with that there must be a rule i don't know about. I wasn't being sarcy either. There is no way a linesman wouldn't know that rule. Think how long he's been running the line for plus it's his job. So i held off. Are you taking the piss though?
Knox_Harrington Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 http://www.fifa.com/en/laws/Laws11_01.htm This just says throw-ins. Erm....yes I am. You're right, the man's a daft twot!f***ing hell, Phil. You had me going. I'm back to righteous indignation. And Kvarme can f*** off!
Ombudsam Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Erm....yes I am. You're right, the man's a daft twot! the lino was a fool then. How can you literally not know the rules. That's ridiculous. You try and give these the benefit of the doubt but then they do something like that.

Guest Sabre Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 That did piss me off. However, what really pisses me off is that most linesmen are too f***ing chicken to award anything nowadays without the consent of the referee. The same linesman gave Notlob a throw in during the second half even though it came off a Notlob player because it was almost a foul...sort of... or if the ball runs out for a throw in, the linesman sort of waits for the ref to give the throw to a team before putting his flag up - it's your f***ing job, mate. Not the referee's. SORT IT OUT.

Knox_Harrington Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 Styles was just as bad - no way he should have given it, even if the linesman was flagging.I'm giving Styles the benefit of the doubt off the fact that he was either too confused to argue or felt sorry for him. You are right tough. Awful officiating all round.
gazza Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Styles was just as bad - no way he should have given it, even if the linesman was flagging. Not that I think for 1 minute we will get one, but i bet you Styles covers their ar$es by claiming he gave a foul against Robbie as an excuse for that. I was trying to give him the benefit of doubt (maybe he was focused solely on Robbie and thought a Liverpool player had flicked it on....yeah yeah I know ) However he then confirmed how completely inept he was by... a) Giving Feck all when Robbie was pushed into next week in the corner of the Annie 2 yards from him (at least Stiles managed to give the correct decision there) b) Giving a throw to them when the ball firstly curled out and then back in to Davies, who then chested it out ! We all make mistakes but he was just total $hite

fyds Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Even Katja said 'But Daddy - it was a throw in - what's he doing?' Fecked if I knew. Basic rules ffs.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 You sure because you can't be offside from a goal kick? THAT, you can be offside from. Haven't seen the game, but someone should bring this up with the FA. Or mass-mail the Guardian etc - & watch the story grow
