RP Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 How the f***ing hell did Jerzy keep Schevchenko's shot (s) out? Eh???? C'mon!! Eh??
RP Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 That's what I needed, a no-nonsense factual response.
Nebraska Red Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 as he says himself, he was able to make himself bigger. watched it a million times and it still amazes me, it is on a par with that wonderful banks save from pele's header. still love to hear Alan Green's reaction to the save.
stressederic Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 That's what I needed, a no-nonsense factual response. Just doing ma job.

Jerzy's save was one in the eye for "Banksy" to be sure.
Nebraska Red Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Jerzy's save was one in the eye for "Banksy" to be sure. that's corne a even for you, even after a few beers.
Andy Mac Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Just watching it again now...... first time in ages......It's f***ing great knowing we win it..... Grazie Liverpool !!!!
LondonLiverpoolFan Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 watched it a million times and it still amazes me, it is on a par with that wonderful banks save from pele's header. Miracle. Pure and simple. Banks' save from Pele was superb, don't want to take anything away from him. Jerzy's save was a miracle though, a sign that our name was on the cup. I nearly collapsed. Thank feck for matty (is that the first time these words have been uttered on these forums?) It was then I knew we'd win. Although I dared not mention this to anyone for fear of putting the mockers on us! Feck me I'm hammered....
Guest Scot Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 How the f***ing hell did Jerzy keep Schevchenko's shot (s) out? Eh???? C'mon!! Eh?? One of the great sporting mysteries of my life. F*cking brilliant isn't it??
Guest Jack Bauer Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 He put his hand out and Shevchenko hit it close enough to him. It was a fluke that it somehow went miles above the bar. I've wathced it loads of times, can't believe Shevchenko did that.
HeWonItFromBrock Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 It's the view from directly in front of the goal that stagers me - the net was absolutely gaping. Wonder how many times Schevshenko has watched it again and wondered.....
Stevie H Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 i've never seen anything like it. it was undoubtedly better than banks' save from pele as banks at least had time to watch the cross and see where it was going. dudek's first save from shevchenko's header was f***ing world class, the follow-up was impossible. it was in.
anny road Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 i read an interview with our keeper coach and basically he said the following 1. It wasnt a fluke...he got a bit lucky, but the reflex that got Jerzy back on his feet and making himslef get into the position he did came from years and years of practise every day doing the same thing 2. It wasnt a bad finish from Schevchenko...he did was every striker would do in that position...he blasts it as hjard as he can on target.....he is 3 yards out in the last minute of a final...how stupid would he look trying to be clever and missing completley...... He said that they tell the keepers to play percentages and that in that circumstance it is likely the ball will be blasted close to him so he is to stand and makle hmself an object in the way of the ball

I've wathced it loads of times, can't believe Shevchenko did that. If you look at the replay closely, Dudek doesn't just put his hand out but moves it vertically upwards, that's why the ball goes over the bar. Fantastic save.
Jonesy Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 The best thing about that save is when the camera pans out and you see Traore shrugging his shoulders and looking at Dudek in disbelief. Then you get a close up of Dudek and he's just pointing at someone and nodding his head. I think he must have nodding at the fella doing the engraving on the cup........
Ombudsam Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I think i celebrated that more than the goals. I'm smiling right now thinking of it. Unbelievable that was. 100% goal.

Unbelievable that was. 100% goal. bizzarely i came home hammered last night after failing to score and stuck that match on again (for about the hundredth time) - isnt it great to have as a "pick me up"? get in there! (still hammered, liverpool top on and waiting for the match....)
RP Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 I've just got up. Had completely forgotten about logging on here last night. Remembering it now, the first post took me about 10 minutes to type - I did it first and then re-read it and couldn't work out what my question was. Think I'd better get a beer. Last night was Kronenbourg, champagne, white wine, red wine and limoncello. Oh and then when I got home I opened a bottle of red wine - strange, I can't find it now, just an empty bottle.
psl Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I'm going to have to put the DVD back on again tonight aren't I?
Guest Red Mist Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Eileen Drewry erected a shield across the goal. There's no other explanation.
smithdown Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Dunno what all the fuss is about - international calibre goalkeeper uses gloved hand to stop goalbound shot shocker!!?!!???! Big wow! Thats what he is paid a billion euros a week to do. I don't expect people to go on and on for over a year about something I might do in my job blah blah blah. (I've just got a cob on cos I am going to miss the first half hour of the game today, so don't mind me)
