New York Red Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 (edited) It's not just a question of ability. His performances as we all know have been incredible in the last 2-3 years. I know Terry and Rio have done well, but there is room for him in the side, regardless of whether it were at RB, LB or CB. But, he's so f*cking inspirational!!! He's the kind you want on the field when the chips are down. He's proved from Istanbul that he is just awesome to have there in a big game. It just makes me mad that he's not given the recognition that he deserves. Edited April 9, 2006 by New York Red
Ombudsam Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Sven probably wants some pace in their against the world's very best. Ferdinand with his head straight is fantastic, look at the last WC. If he's not at the races then yeah carra should be in. I think Neville and cole are there on merit tbf He doesn't play for spurs. TBH the only Spurs player in the team is Robinson and can you name a better english keeper?
New York Red Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 Even if you had Terry and Carra in the middle of the back 4 and Rio in front I'd be happy. I just think Sven is being an idiot not playing him.
RP Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Terry and Carra playing together and England would win the World Cup. FACT. But then again, who cares???
Nebraska Red Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 the perception is that his ball distribution is nowhere near as good as the dynamic duo of Terry and Ferdinand. also, he is hardly likely to pop up with the odd goal. he is terribly unlucky to be playing at a time that there are a few decent English central defenders. if England ever did it, he would be great in a back 3, or as a sweeper.
Nebraska Red Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I wonder how he'd get on as a defensive midfielder his passing is just not up to scratch for a midfield position, except in an emergency!! he had a nose bleed getting into Milan's half last May to set up the penalty, and needed a Sherpa guide to get back to his usual spot.

realtarragona Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 the perception is that his ball distribution is nowhere near as good as the dynamic duo of Terry and Ferdinand. Well it's not as good as Ferdinand's and I guess Sven prefers two different type of centre backs. It's either Carragher or Terry and you can't argue with the latter starting I suppose. He shouldn't start right back or left back because he's not better than the two currently there at the moment.
fyds Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Terry and Carra playing together and England would win the World Cup. FACT.But then again, who cares???Right on both counts.
Stevie H Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Sven's a spineless pr*ck.spot on. has only ever picked players on reputations and not form.
sutty Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 The England manager and the press think defending is less important than ambling around the field posing.
Dule Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Ferdinand would actually play the DM position better the most i think.
sutty Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Ferdinand would actually play the DM position better the most i think. He's not good enough
Stevie H Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Ferdinand would actually play the DM position better the most i think. don't agree. he's an airhead. carrick or parker would be far better.
libero Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I reckon Titus Bramble should be given a try instead of Ferdinand.Beattie up front and maybe Micheal Brown in the center of Midfield.
sutty Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 don't agree. he's an airhead. carrick or parker would be far better. Parker? Too ill.
Stevie H Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Parker? Too ill. with the ill behaviour. with the ill behaviour.
Ombudsam Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 King, Defoe and Jenas? Huh? None of them are in the England team either. spot on. has only ever picked players on reputations and not form. When Ferdinand was shocking earlier he was bombed. The simple answer is that Ferdinand and Terry compliment each other better than Carra and Terry. Sven doesn't want to strip himself of the option of pace. If ferdinand is shyte between now and the end of the season then carra should play.
ricflairandy Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 The press pick the team. There isa london bais. FACT! (well, the press picking the team thing is sort of fact, in the way that whatever they suggest sven goes with, like the myth that ledley king is a fantastic world class player, both in defence and midfield)
The Hitman Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 1.Sven is an idiot2.He's not a fashionable central defender, doesn't play for a London club or the Mancs, and so doesn't get the credit he deserves from the presses.3.People are still waiting for Rio to "come good" again, despite the fact that it's obvious he can't concentrate for 90 minutes.4.Players like Ledley King are getting a look in too, despite being unable to defend against a long throw directly into the box.Top class that was.
