rikf Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=363999&cc=5739 Worth a shout in the summer?
Guest snez1 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Inconsistant, expensive, lazy, had a poor season, no thanks.
DonRafa Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Don't fancy him at all.much sooner have Pennant, or even Sweep
CarraLegend Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Don't fancy him at all.much sooner have Pennant, or even Sweep Same here, dont really rate Joaquin at all.
M4TTA Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 must admit, Pennant does look a good player. Not sure if spending all that money on joaquin would be wise? who knows..
Benzo-13 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Joaquin has always been my first choice for that position.. A player Rafa could bring to a whole new level.. SWP or Pennant aren't near his level. How many caps have they?
rikf Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 With him stating he wants to leave, that may drop his value

SWP or Pennant aren't near his level. How many caps have they? If you want to use the International argument then one could point out Pennant and SWP have to get past David Beckham while all Joaquin has had to do is get past Joseba Exteberria, oh and incidentally Joaquin is now playing second fiddle to Luis Garcia, you know that guy who isnt even a regular for us.
Spion kop Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 depends on his price in my opinion if we can get cheap then yes, if not save the money and go for pennant.

We see SWP beat a left back and salivate over here. That's the least of Joaquin's abilities.. He's a star.. We'd be doing fantastic business to get him..
SkippyjonJones Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 No. Bid for him. Raise the price. Let Chelsea buy him for 40 million.Buy SWP for 5million. Ice cream for everyone.
kop88 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 id take joaquin without thinking twice. on his day he is a world class player who has probably just gone stail at betis after being there all of his career so far, a little like MO in his last year for us. i thought he really impressed against us in the champions league, especially the anfield leg. think he would definately be a great addition to the team, but there will no doubt be competition from chelsea and madrid etc,. think if rafa wanted him though we would have as good a chance as anyone.
Flight Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Think he had decided on this months ago, which has probably affected his form this season : Sly Sports - Joaquin moving on in the summer (from Dec)
alias75 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Watched Joaquin a lot and while hes obviously a goodplayer i was never sure of why there was all this hype around him, however he is the one right winger ive seen thats really given Ashley Cole a beating. In that game he was awesome. I think his performances for Spain have been very good and you have to remember he plays for a team thats at best a 2nd tier team in the league. In a side thats dominating games more im sure he'll improve his play. A lot of course depends on the price but he'd be my first choice for right winger.
chrisbonnie Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 its easy to say joquin has been lazy or inconsistant this year, but he has been playing ain a seriously below par Betis team going on his last few years, id have him in a heart beat, the chap is unbelivably talented, i know it was Djimi Traore, but in the game against Betis away this season, anytime he had the ball, he skinned Traore, anyone who was there must remember it, we where sat right on his side i actually watched the Seville derby on sunday, and i have to say, he didnt go beating players left right and central, BUT, what he did do, that surprised me seeing as everyone calls him lazy, was track back, not many out and out wingers do that, and he did mind you, i still think he`ll go to the chavs, once they clikc their fingers they get what they want, simple as that
Dule Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 He had a poor season this year. He will be back at the WC, and clubs all aroudn the world will notice. We should snap him up righ tnow if we have any chance.
alias75 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Isnt Joaquin a mummies boy though? That suggests hes likely to stay in Spain BUT if he did come overseas then the Spanish influence here could be a factor.
Spike Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Juaquin - My period at Betis is finished. For someone who was breast-fed until he was seven or summat I would take this more as some kind of bodily quirk than an intention to leave the club
Romario Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Breast fed til 14. If he cost more than 6m which he would then I'd say no fecking way. He'd deliver less than Smicer in this league. I'd love us to sign quality like him but he's just not cut out for 60 games a season never mind 30. He's a ponce of the highest order. I'd rather Pennant over him and I can't believe I'm saying this.
Ombudsam Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Breast fed til 14. That figure doubles everytime i see it
