Guest FrankH Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I thought ours was £5m a year (1 more year), and Newcastle's £5m (runs for 4 more years). Arsenal's will be £6.9m a year for the next 8 years from this summer when they switch to Emirates (up from £3m a year with O2). Chelsea's will be £10m a year from this summer for 5 years with Samsung, switching up from £4m a year (with Emirates). How the feck did they manage that??
Falconhoof Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Man U 14 million a yearChelsea 10 million a year Liverpool 6 something not right there
Rushian Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 (edited) Man U 14 million a yearChelsea 10 million a year Liverpool 6 something not right there They're signing brand new deals starting this summer, we've got 1 more year of the cycle to go before we negotiate a new deal. Currently it's Liverpool 5m, Chelsea 4m, Arsenal 3m .... which isn't such a s**** deal. Edited April 6, 2006 by Rushian

Raj Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I thought Carlsberg extended their deal last year ? they did, for 2 years.starting at the end of last seaon.
Falconhoof Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 they did, for 2 years.starting at the end of last seaon. So last season, after winning the European Cup ? We negotiated 6 million a season ?
Raj Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 (edited) So last season, after winning the European Cup ? We negotiated 6 million a season ? i dont think so, i'm pretty sure it was an extension of the previous deal. if i remember correctly, the deal expired last season and we actively searched for new sponsorship.we couldnt find any and as a result extended the current deal. i could be wrong, but i'm sure thats a very basic breakdown of what happened. andymac Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 So last season, after winning the European Cup ? We negotiated 6 million a season ? I think it was concluded just before we won the European Cup, hence it isn't as big as we would have hoped.
Rushian Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 It's usual to have your sponsorship deals in place by the end of March at the latest as the shirt manufacturers have lead in times which require this (hence our dispute with Reebok). We were negotiating with a major new sponsor to replace Carlsberg from the summer of 2005 but they pulled the plug at the last minute which resulted in us signing a short term renewal with Carlsberg.

Know who this major new sponsor was Rushian?

That explains it. I'd hazzard a guess that the deal which fell through was substantially larger than the last minute deal we ended up with.
Rushian Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Know who this major new sponsor was Rushian? No I don't sorry. What's missed in all the hysteria is our current deal is second only to the Mancs and all these quoted figures are for deals that have yet to start as a new, more lucrative spnsorship cycle kicks in.
Guest sniffer Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Isn't there talk that we might get into bed with betting firm Mansion, the firm that Man Utd dropped at the last minute?
johngibo YPC Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Isn't there talk that we might get into bed with betting firm Mansion, the firm that Man Utd dropped at the last minute? they go quite a bit of publicity just from that. I'd never heard of them before then anyway
Rushian Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I'd expect us to announce a joint stadium naming rights/shirt sponsorship deal with the shirt bit kicking in in 2007.

smokescreen Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Gillette it is then... The circle will then be complete when we get 'Razor' Ruddock in as a dietrician
