"Of course, how good the service is personally will depend on how up todate your own PC is."

I'm sorry, that's not necessarily true. Most home machines are capable of streaming live footage. More often than not it's the broadcaster's/broadband providers fault for poor quality footage.

it'll be as part of the next TV deal - if I remember one of the stipulations from the last one was internet streaming rights would revert to the clubs for this deal.

You f***ing beauty!

This has nothing to do with showing PL matches live.

Premiership club Liverpool FC is looking to broadcast live football matches over broadband and mobile.

Subscriptions to Liverpool's online video-on-demand (VOD) package have nearly tripled, to 43,000 from under 15,000 in summer 2004. The club is now looking to develop its online offering, which currently includes live audio from matches and video highlights.

Stephen Michael, general manager of the club's Web site, liverpoolfc.tv, said that increased opportunities for convergence mean the club is looking to broadcast games on multiple platforms, but stressed that there's no confirmed launch date for the service.

This is about the matches they currently show live via the e-ticket. They want to show them on different platforms. The rights to show live 3pm matches etc are not up for tender now or at the next renewal of TV rights

Ah bugger

That may yet change. The next TV rights buy is already being scrutinized to make allowance for at least partial dual online broadcast. This would help explain the reluctance to give even an approximate starting date for the new service.

Ok, I'll rephrase 'how good the service is personally will depend to a great extent on how up to date your own PC is'.

If you have a very average video/graphics card, average sound card and processor etc, all of which my not best support the necessary software - then even if the broadcasts are HD it won't help you much.

The new broadcasts as and when they appear will be of a different scale and technological standard to those available now.
