Newcastle manager and Owen

Over the last week rumours have been building up amongst friends of mine close to people at Spurs that all is not well with Martin Jol.

He was sounded out for the Newcastle job as early as January and the spurs board aren't interested in fighting for him.

Mido is also potentially going to join Newcastle apparently...

So on two levels

1 Anyone heard anything similar - I already have a few quid down on Jol to Newcastle at massive odds and am interested in slapping quite a bit more down.

2 Will Owen stay with Jol as a manager and Mido as a strike partner?

apparently the odds had dropped a lot on Jol yesterday, but there seems to have been so many betting scams going on with the newcastle job - no one knows what to think :D

From reading about a bit - I've heard that Mido and Jol have had a big fall out and that all is not well there, which is what led to Mido being benched for a bit. So it doesnt make much sense that Jol AND Mido go to Newcastle!

I still think O'Neill will be named Newcastle boss soon.

I heard Spurs have been approached twice and it's all over the Tottenham forums.

I would back O'neil however - surely he's going to get the England job.

I'll ask for more info on where it's being spoken aboutif you're interested.

I haven't read it for myself.

I posted it partly because I was suprised to hear it and partly because I love a gamble and wondered whether anyone else had heard anything similar.

I wouldn't mind Rafa making a bid to get Mido this summer. He is acclimatised to the premiership and the price shouldn't be too prohibitive.

I'm gonna wait for Sean's next tip

At least Pearce isn't six foot under, which puts Sean slightly ahead of you in the tipping stakes so far...

You have to wonder how important Owen is in the negotiation for a new manager. The barcodes are losing Shearer and surely can't have much more money to spend after last summer. I would think any manager coming in would want to be guaranteed that Owen was staying. Otherwise they would be left with Shola Ameobi as their only striker of note.

Not so sure of that myself, obviously any manager would want Owen there but if he isnt I cant see it being that much of a problem as long as the new manager is allowed to spend the money if Owen is sold

George Graham would be my choice.

Graeme Souness would be my choice, what did they go and sack him for? I was enjoying that.
