smokescreen Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 LOL, I can picture the Teletext headline now: "HUGE EURO SIGNING ON THE WAY!! Dont you mean... HUGE EURO SIGNING ON THE WAY!!?
Andyjandy Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Dont you mean... HUGE EURO SIGNING ON THE WAY!!? And thats what justifies the 1.50 a minute.
Eskimo Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 No idea if we are interested in him, at least not yet, but it does look likely that he will be sold in the summer. He has two yeas left on his contract and Flores is keen to re-build the squad and in order to do so they will need to sell. The main candidates are Kluivert, Lopez, Navarro, Rufete and Torres although I doubt there will be many takers as most of them are on pretty high wages/lengthy contracts.... So I wouldn't be suprised if we continue to be linked with him...
fyds Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I think we'll sign Riquelme or Aimar.a) I think you may be rightb) Either would do me!
Mad_Fer_It Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 riquelme wont fit, weve got xabi... we cant afford to have two players walking on the pitch, (not a slag at xabi, its just the way they play, theyre awesome like that, but two players would be too much)
Mad_Fer_It Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 aimar would play off the striker, riquelme no...riquelme needs to pull all the strings of the team, like xabi does, he wouldnt be nearly as effective so far up the pitch... neither would stevie, his surging runs would only be foward runs with defenders waiting for them
R A Softlad Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Dont you mean... HUGE EURO SIGNING ON THE WAY!!? Dont you mean... MINUTE EURO SIGNING ON THE WAY!!?
smokescreen Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 Where in the sam hell has the Riquelme link come from... Or is this educated guess work?
jimmylibel Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I think we'll sign Riquelme or Aimar. I know you been saying that you think we'll get a 'creative midfielder' but do you really think it's limited to those 2?
Knox_Harrington Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I know you been saying that you think we'll get a 'creative midfielder' but do you really think it's limited to those 2?No but I think Rafa will go home to find this player. He'll want to be sure, just as he knew what he was getting from Garcia and Alonso. Having said that if Aguero is this sort of player I could be completely wrong.

I agree with your logic (and what you're saying about Aguero) - just remains to be seen if he is going for a creative mid I guess. I'm really trying to figure out what he's going for in the summer and if he is going for a RM and 2 top strikers I can't see him going for a creative mid too (just can't figure out how he'd keep everyone happy). However I really do hope your theory is right!!!

Three words for you: By Selling Garcia.Do you really think that's likely though?
Knox_Harrington Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I was including that Ah right. Fair enough. Do you really think that's likely though?Yes.
AnfieldCop Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I have a feeling that Rafa will keep Moro. If he does there will be no Kuyt. Maybe he will go for Owen and Aguero ? Crouch, Morientes, Owen, Fowler and Aguero ??

jimmylibel Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Kuyt, Owen, Aguero and Alves. Feel free to swap Aguero or Owen for Aimar or Riquelme. There - all sorted. That CM has a lot to answer for really!
fyds Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Yes. WEll as much as I hope you're right about tiny latinos, I hope you're wrong about tiny spaniards.
Mikey Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Three words for you: By Selling Garcia.I've been saying this for a while mate, I think Rafa will be looking to 'upgrade' a couple of players this Summer and Garcia is one of them. Sell Garcia for £5-7M and buy Aimar for £10-12M looks like good business to me. I expect to see a couple of 'favourites' leave this Summer, for me it will be Luis and Didi, but it could even be HK. whatever happens, with Gonzales arriving, Zenden getting fit and already having HK and Garcia to play the attacking/creative/wide left role someone is going to go thats for sure. Not forgetting Djimi, JAR, Warnock and Aurelio(sp?) if he arrives!!!!!!!
Guest ziggystardust Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Dont think Aimar is anywhere near world class myself, he looked like he could/would be at one point but isnt fulfilling that potential, still a cracking player but nowhere near world class category for me. youve obviously never seen him play then have you. if he isnt world class when on form and fit then i dont know what is.
CarraLegend Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 youve obviously never seen him play then have you. if he isnt world class when on form and fit then i dont know what is. Seen him play plenty of times thanks including when he and Valencia ripped us to bits out there but he hasnt progressed from there and I dont think he's consistent enough to be classed as world class. Apologies for having a differing opinion, I wont do it again.
