But surely no other manager, however good or bad, liked or disliked can be the most successful british manager of the last quarter of a century. That's like saying Rearce will never be the first man on the moon!!!

I applaude his honesty and the fact that he isn't like 90% of managers todayn who will whinge about being the best team today despite losing 3-0. He wasn't making excuses about injuries and he has a few, instead he was apologizing to the fans who spent good money to watch. Unlike "Mr Breath of Fresh Air" who would have sent out his henchmen or Wenger who would have been bitter or Fat Sam who would have been hard done by. He held his hands up and blamed HIMSELF and his players and apologized to the fans.

When you've been at the same megabucks (literally these days) club for most of that selective quarter of a century - you'd better be! Ask yourself this...if Benitez, Wenger or Maureen had been in post almost 20 years and had only won 1 European Cup - do you ythink they'd feel as self -satisfied as Fergie evidently does?

well if youre only counting the european cup and not league titles/FA cups anymore....
