i reckon he is as good as Gerrard was at the same age. i also thought that last season, Hamann was going to be impossible to replace. the biggest compliment i can pay him is that we dont miss Hamann when he is playing. tothink he was nearly a blue!!! what a signing sissoko has turned out to be. awesome

At that age stevie could pick a better pass and had a cleaner shot.

Didnt run quite as much as him though.

i dunno. if Sissoko was Endglish the press would be jizzing all over him. the lad has just turned 21. what a f***ing talent he is

The real question Wayne is how good is he going to get? This is the one player compared to Vieira that IF he stays clear of the sort of nasty injury that nearly claimed him this season, could go on to eclipse the man in the years ahead.

The major thing with Sissoko is - when he's playing, he frees Xabi up to weave his magic - meaning if Gerrard is out, after a few minutes you stop noticing - hell of an achievement.

Excellant player, who has become one of the most important players for us. We certainly are a different proposition with him in the team

the guy is awesome. and thats not taking anything away from Gerrard, who, IMO is the best midfielder in the world. infact, i would go as far as saying that Gerrrad could play in any outfield position on the park and still be the best player in the team. but Sissoko, at 21, is an unbelievable talent at central mid.

Yeh, i cannot be forgotten just how quick he has settled in, his age and also, maybe not seen by some, his constant steady improvement throughout the season.

His discipline has improved, his passing and his confidence on the ball. HE hit the bar after a weaving run through the middle earlier in the season, if that had went in more people would raving about him(Superficial i know but its the stuff people like to see).

I think he is fantastic, and compliments alonso better than gerrard does.

I claim myself as one of the lucky ones to have seen this rather early in him, and doing the 'I want a Momo shirt!' bit! All the bits I've read and the snippets you hear from people you meet at the game, people who have watched them train, or who know someone who's uncle is the kitman's apprentice etc say the same thing - he's very popular with the other players, very popular with the management and loves the club and the way it looks after him - just as well - as you can imagine we're going to get some serious offers for him in the coming years.

Gerrard could play at left back and be better than Xabi in centre mid ?

I'll have a half of what you're drinking.

if it was a straight choice between playing 90 minutes with either Gerrard or Alonso at left back, who would you pick? or at right back, or at centre forwrd, or centre back? i'd have Stevie every time. thats what i mean by you could play Gerrrad anywhere and he has still the potential to be the best player on the park

That is true. He has developed the mental discipline and awareness to put his considerable energy into doing just about any job required of him for the team.

its personal choice. i'd have Gerrard everytime in central midfield. i think, from some of our fans, Stevie G is the most under rated player in the side

So if you played Gerrard at left back and Carra played centre back, Xabi in centre mid, you think Gerrard would be the best player in the team ? The lad is probably the most adaptable midfielder in the world but i think a statement like that is disrespectful to some of our players.

I'm not too sure how Gerrard would fare at left back or centre back.

Great point well made.

End of thread ;)

IMO Sissoko is as good a player as Viera was.

I still don't get the fuss about Momo, I really don't.

From what I can see he simply harries players and is a great athlete. He can't seem to pass, shoot, head, control or tackle. Please tell me what I'm missing.

two totally different types of player by the way. One has imaginary caps for his country the other is Viera. ;)

He can't seem to pass (long passes I accept but why worry when you have Xabi n Stevie doint that), shoot (agree), head (disagree), control (eh??) or tackle (eh? seriously mate? http://home.skysports.com/optastats.asp?cl...verpool&cpid=8). Please tell me what I'm missing (most of the his game if I'm not mistaken)

A basic grasp of football mate.

Tackles Tackle % Apps

1 Mohamed Sissoko 130 69% 16(4)

2 Xabi Alonso 126 73% 23(6)

3 Steven Gerrard 91 69% 28
