We should have kept Smicer.

In principle, yes, but what sort of contract do you offer an injury prone 29 year old who is free to leave on a Bosman ?

We shouldn't have kept Nunez but we should have signed someone better. Had Gonzales been allowed a work permit we wouldn't be discussing this.

Nunez was a a poor player. He worked hard and occasionally put in a decent cross but that's it

It seems to me people are only wishing he was still here because Rafa and Parry have failed so spectacularly on numerous occasions to get the right winger the club needs

He'd be perfect for matches like Benfica away, we were crying out for someone strong enough on the flanks that day.

We should have kept Smicer.

Massive suprise here - I agree...we would have had him at his confident best for at least 1-2 years.

His effort couldn't be faulted, and he improved over time, but I still thought he was poor. The fact that Rafa got rid of him without having a nailed on RW lined up would suggest that he was probably of the same opinion.

Vladi... come on! As loveable as the old scamp is - keeping a player who'd been injured for so long and because of it contributed so little for so long would have been madness.

Somewhat unbelievably I wish we kept Antonio Nunez.

I know he was generally anonymous, got pushed off the ball, rarely performed, has never done it at the top level and every other reason.... but I quite liked the guy. I saw something hidden far, far inside him that tells me he could be a player.

He'd never be anywhere near my first team, but as someone who'd have 10-15 games a season I'd have kept him. This might be revisionist bulls***, with the benefit of hindsight, as our attempts at a right winger fell through, and Kewell's managed to get a decent run of games (which was far from certain at the time), but I think he was worth another season.

So come on.... confession time... what decisions that have been universally accepted as correct would YOU have done differerently?

I agree totally. I had a fair amount of time for Tony. Always thought he tried his hardest, and didn't hide on the pitch. Didn't have a bad cross either, ok it was hit and miss at times, but no more so then our crossing has been this season.

Erm........do you really need my input

 Go on, then!

As for mine: bringing back Michael Owen. (although I'm sure in a parallel universe Spider-Neil would agree with me)

As I said yesterday, should have kept smicer.

I also thought it wasn't such a masterstroke to sign Morientes at the time we signed him. Never thought he would be all that in this league.

how is nunez doing in spain now

not meant to be a criticism (veiled or o/w) but just curious

We should recall Le Tallec and play him into the team.

Preferably as support striker.

No we shouldn't

Going for Owen there in the summer -- I know not everybody on here agreed with it but everybody at the club seemed depressingly united in their efforts to sign him. Gerrard's smile when he was asked whether we were getting him almost made me cry like a child.

No we shouldn't

I think we should have actually. He would have made a good backup for crouch this season.

I don't think Rafa has handled les gems very well, tbh.

Everyone seems to agree that Garcia is either completely sh*te or at the very best, infuriating and frustrating to watch.

I disagree. I think he is f***ing great, very few faults in his game. I love to see a player continually trying to create goalscoring chances or at the very least positive attacking moves. I have not once yet got 'annoyed' at Garcia.
