If Garcia isn't going to cover RM and there's nothing to say he won't by the way, then I see the role of himself and fowler as very simlar. I think Garcia as it stands is the better option and would keep him over fowler. The only thing which may weight it in Fowler's favour is the price but the money isn't my concern so looking at it in terms of who's better i think garcia wins.

Where's the 'keep both' option?

look polls are complicated enough. make your own if you want something as fancy as 3 options

Garcia, may have been off form of late but has still chipped in with 9 goals...

10 (not in a forum lore way)

 Personally I can't see the point in the poll.

Garcia has only been used as a striker a couple of times but he is mostly used on the right and Fowler is a striker! Shouldn't it be Fowler, Nando or Cisse?

Next Poll who shall we keep next Season - Agger or Kewell ;)

Fowler v Garcia - Sammy, are you suggesting they can't play in the same team together? Personally I think they'd be a good front two, as long as we keep the ball on the gound.

If we play how did under evans but we'll probably want to give ourselves more options on the pitch.

I don't think Crouch is good enough to be one of the two first choice options up front. Unless Fowler shows some impressive form to indicate that he is good enough, I think we need two top class players brought for up front.

Crouch seems a given to stay, so if we are filling up on the flanks to push Garcia more or less out of the equation there, I reckon it could come down to Luis, Fowler or Sinama for the final fourth spot.

Looking beyond just the front though, there is also the option of getting just one right midfielder and using Sinama and Garcia as backup there, though one would probably fill up the fourth striking slot as well, which would probably also see Fowler as the odd man out.

Are you suggesting fielding more than 11 players? :cooler:

You're right though.

It's like the old 'Daddy or Chips' dilemma, confusing little girls since the McCain advert came out

For me I'd have to say Peas. Mushy Cats don't taste as good.

In fairness, after a barren start to his LFC career in terms of goals, hasn't he scored something like 12 in the last 24 games? If he can keep that kind of form up then he may yet be a first choice option up-front. What is clear that is we need competition/cover for him as the target man. If that player (Kuyt?) is more mobile and a greater goal threat than Crouch then all the better.

I still think that Rafa may prefer pairing Crouch with an Aimar-type, rather than an Owen-type. I don't reckon either Fowler or Garcia are quite up to being first choice options for that role. If it came to a choice as to which one to keep as competition/cover for that position then I would expect Garcia to get the nod.

At RM, if Rafa is happy continuing to use Gerrard there for the majority of games (and I would be) then I think all we need is better cover for him. Someone like Malbranque wouldn't be the worst shout.

Anyone who can't see how the Fowler v Garcia situation could easily develop isn't really thinking very hard/at all

I was with you on this until Banders came to your defence... I now realise it was daft question. ;)

Perhaps a bit harsh of me to single him out as 'not being good enough to be first choice' as the strikers are rotated as often as they are, but he is our best striker and ideally I think should have two strikers that are better than him. On top of his game, he is good enough, but over the course of the season, I think he falls a bit short of fulfilling the task he has been asked to fulfil this season.

Crouch is a gameplan on to himself so to speak, he changes the game simply by being there. I am not sure we should neccesarily look to emulate that with another targetman. Think we can afford the luxury of looking purely at the quality (and price) of said player, regardless of whether it is someone like Kuyt or someone like Aimar, and let his style of play, at least to a certain degree, be a secondary concern.

I still think that Rafa may prefer pairing Crouch with an Aimar-type, rather than an Owen-type.

I reckon he'd want both options and over time go with the one that delivered most as the main option, though his blatant disregard for cisse in that role might indicate you are right (or that Rafa doesn't rate cisse up front at all).

Think we definitely should be looking to have a genuine wide man as an option there. I am not too plussed about where Gerrard plays really, he'll do well anywhere, but the option of playing with a wideman on the right instead of a destroyer like momo centrally is one I think is important to have, particularly at home. Not too sure about the need for a backup winger in addition to that, though if he came dirt cheap like Victor, wouldn't be all bad I guess.

Virtually everybody types it out as 'Banders'. Can people not the see '9', or that simply how it reads out in your mind?

I feel like Sammy-yah whenever I see it.

Personally, I would keep Garcia, but really we should, and probably will, keep both. Two are entirely different players, for starters.

Why did you change it from B9anders anyway?

It's a minor point of principle that I myself prefer talking to people who use their own names. I find handles often become largely anonymous entities that I don't really remember.
