Walk on through the rain, walk on through the rain.

That can be heard from quite a few people every time the song is sung at our local pub. :D It isn't that often though, but amusing when it happens. It also seems that surprisingly many people aren't familiar with the words in the "And a sweet silver song of a lark" line, so they just mumble their own words as they sing.

YNWA is out of sync a lot of the times. We should ask the local church to give the fans choir practice so we all learn to sing together.

It's something we should have mastered during assembly time in infant school yet we still struggle.

Scouser Tommy - people singing "Highland division" instead of "Higher Division"... "Libyan Sun" or "Arabian Sun" is a bit of a contentious issue aswell.

Not that it really bothers me, aslong as people sing and the song still gets out doesn't really seem to matter.

As for FOAR - "Stevie Heighway on the wing" seems to flow better than "We had Heighway on the wing" anyway... Majority seem to sing "Stevie Heighway on the wing" nowadays I reckon.

No excuses for getting YNWA wrong though...

 Thought it was Highland Division? Whenever I've seen it written down it has been Highland division.

I know it is "we've been to Europe too", but shouldn't we be singing "we've won in Europe too"?

My biggest pet hate:

Championi, Championi, Ole, Ole, Ole

Aaaaaaaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!

There's no such thing as a 'higher division' in military terms. Its not as if they you moved up into better divisions the more Jerrys you shot.

And don't be afraid of the lark.

still makes me laugh.

I remember a poster making a completely new bird ynwa, dead good it was too.

I worked in that London for a bit so obviously went to watch West Ham sometimes. I never understood why in "Blowing Bubbles" (cue Michael Jackson gag..) they sang about hiding lilacs everywhere. Then I realised, they don't.

And it's Highland Division (many Scousers were in it during the war) and Arabian sun depicting the sun in the Arabian part of the Sahara where there aren't any signposts or pubs or even policemen to tell you where you are.

What really annoys me is people finishing YNWA a chorus early. And I don't know why George leaves the record playing-it would sound better with it turned off. Well, it would have done on Saturday, not so sure against Pompey/Blackburn or [insert no-mark team name here].

The 51st Highland Division didn't serve in Arabia during WWII. They were in Lybia though. ;)

We had Heighway

Libyan sun

Higland division

But then I still sing Xabi Alonso, Garcia and Nunez - and will continue to do so....

Ole Ole, Ole Ole

Sinama Pongolle

it's Allez! He's French (as was Gerard)

There is no 'acute' over the e and so the song doesn't work.

His surname is pronounced Pon-goll.

We had Heighway

Agreed

Libyan sun

Definitely Arabian. Used to be sung a lot at Cup Finals, as I recall (blatant lie but bear with me) which may explain why you're a bit off-the-mark there. ;)

Higland division

Agreed.
