Unfortunately Lyons did it when TV cameras were banned from matches but it was a blinder. Sandy Brown's is deffo number 1.

I claim to have scored the best own goal ever.

 

It was during house football at school. We were 3-0 up with just minutes remaining and the ball came to me at right back, on the outer edge of the box.

 

THeir winger was closing me down so I just went for a hoof.

 

I completely mis-hit it and god knows how but I hooked it with my right foot. It went up, high, caught the wind and then went behind me.

 

I turned to look where the feck it was going only to see it hit the top left hand corner of our goal.

 

So overjoyed was I that I joined in their player celebrations and they all jumped on me.

 

To this day I have no idea what happened - but it was only ever bettered by a volley i scored from the edge of the area. Hit it perfectly, lobbing over the keeper and it just rolled down the back of the net.

I know this aint Liverpool related, but rather than start another thread...

 

Does anyone know where I might find a clip of that most fantastic of own goals scored in the FA cup a few years ago - think it was a Forrest Green player, who slammed the ball into the top corner from about a yard out...

 

They even showed it on MOTD the other night, but I had to sound off, so I didn't have to put up with any drivel from Lineker, Dixon, Motson and co...

I did one similar. Playing left back, got closed down, turned back to pass it back to the keeper, managed to loft it a bit (probably bobbled) and the wind took it. It sailed right over our keeper (U11) and into the top corner.

I've scored LOADS of own goals (though most of them would have been given the striker, unless it was Crouch of course, we can't have him scoring).

 

Amongst them are:

2 where the ball was played back to the keeper, I was shepherding in front of the striker so he couldn't close him down, and our keeper hit it against me (in my face both times) and it went in.

 

2 in one game... one where a shot was dragged wide but as I'd gone to try and block it it hit my ankle and deflected it in.... the other where the striker had gone round the keeper, and I tried to tackle him from behind and put the ball wide, but it trickled in off the post.

 

I've had a couple of Paul Parker-esque ones where they've shot and it's spun off me when I try to block it and lobbed the keeper.

 

The worst one was when the ball broke free in the box from a corner, and the winger I'd been battling with all game was going for it. It was about 80-20 in his favour, but I was facing my own goal, and him facing away from the goal, so I decided I was gonna smash him.... he s*** out of the tackle meaning I belted the ball in the top corner

 

I can honestly say that with all my own goals (and I'm well into double figures) that is the only one that is really my fault... and that's cos the other fella was a s***house. I had no right to win that tackle.

 

I have scored a whopping 2 goals in the right end... one direct from a corner, and the other a 30 yard lob, having spotted the keeper of his line!

bets own goal I've ever seen was Eurogoals goal of the month some yeras ago, in the french league.

 

Some 25 yards from goal, a solitary defender deals with a long ball under pressure from an attacker with a superb curved volley into the opposite top corner. The keeper was helpless to save it.

 

Even better struck than gerrard's screamer against boro last season.

I refuse to go anywhere near my own goal so I doubt i'll ever get an own goal.
