Yeah but you don't feel it at all. They give you drops to deaden the eye and stop the blinking reflex.

 

The only uncomfortable moment is when they make the flap - they put what I'd describe as a stud tightener over your eye and pressure is applied. This has a track on it and they run this device down the track to make the flap (1/16 thickness of a hair).

 

It sounds horrible I know but it really isn't, over and done with in a few seconds. Flap opened, concentrate on the flashing light, sounds like a gas inition on a cooker. Smells like burnt shreaded wheat!

 

Flap put back and that's about it. Next eye.
