is 31 march the deadline for the club to outline its investment 'blueprint' to qualify for the nwda grant? any news on whether we're likely to get that public money?

31st March is the Objective 1 funding, April 10th I think is NWDA (and that depends on EU funding).

I think the new stadium is at least 5 -6 years away if that.

We'll only get Stanley Park in exchange for regeneration of the area - the grants enabling that to happen disappear if not used/committed now.

Gotcha. Doesn't look good for the new ground does it.

The next 30 days are crucial. All things considered, I reckon it is very likely the green light will be given.

The problem is that unless Rick finds the right kind of investment and agrees a deal in the next week then it goes t*** up. Isn't that how things stand ? We'd have to have all but signed the contract with the new investors for this to go through.

If it falls apart then a lot of people are going to look incompetent. Not just Rick Parry, but people from the council, the NWDA. It'll set back regeneration of the local area possibly for a decade or more and there'll be people in the government keen not to let that happen.

Apparently the electrical drawings have gone out for evaluation and various firms who specialise in "building envelopes" (roofing, walls etc) have been contacted to let them know the tender is due to go out. Doesn't mean it's confirmed but we certainly seem to be gearing up for it.

Lets assume we are going ahead then. How do you assume its being financed ? Loans or investment from someone like Mittal ?

Investment would only cover part of it so we'd have to take out loans of some kind. We could initially take out the loans and then get investment later ...

So its not that far fetched then. I'm sure our accounts would show that its a sound investment.

I'm now convinced the whole thing will go ahead as planned and we'll have an announcement in the next week.

I'd have no problem with that at all. I can imagine there'd be a vocal minority who'd oppose it but it really wouldn't change a thing as far as i'm concerned. It'll still be Liverpool football club and the fans will still call it Anfield.

If it reduces the debt by 10, 20 million or whatever then it can be corporate sponsored and its to the benefit of the club.

There's also the chance of a naming rights deal which again doesn't necessarily have to be agreed before the construction starts ...

As I understand it from someone who's done such deals before, it's very unusual to agree a naming rights deal until after you've broken ground on construction.....

To add fuel to the fire, a mate from Uni went for a job interview the other day at an architechs, working on a project entitled something like "Relocation of Liverpool FC from the Anfield area".

Didn't get it though.

It's a bit like our transfer policy isn't it? Let's leave it til the last day and then try and squeeze it through., at some stage you need to leave the student mentality behind and move into a pro-active world.

f***ing s**** ain't it mate, working to "deadlines" and "decisions"?! We should just circumvent the entire process by offering to play in Wembley when it's done.
