recovering deleted photos on digital camera

My dippy missus managed to delete all the pictures I had on my camera-a couple hundred pics including all the ones I took when I was in australia for 6 weeks. Being a bit dippy myslef I didn't back them up.

 

Anyway, I know there are programs to try to recover them, but have you used any of them?Would love some advise.
