My next door neighbour is a Sunderland fan...he's always been open about the fact that LFC is his second team.. tonight he's said that we will become his main team when SAFC get relegated..don't know what to feel about this..in one way I'm delighted that he's seen the light but on the other hand...

He's a t***. He'll f*** off to Man Ure if we start doing badly again.

Obviously he was never a true Sunderland fan in the first place, nor will he be a true Red once he switches allegiences.

There was a Reading fan on SSN yesterday saying that the place he is most looking forward to visiting is Anfield and hearing YNWA being sung - reckons a lot of others feel the same. Nice to know we are still held in high regard and just goes to show that Chelsea talk s**** when they say that being hated is an inevitable price of success.

Agreed. Turn coat. The only way he could really justify that is making us his preference now. Even then, its crap. But hey, his life.

Rejoice that another sinner has been brought into the light...

Quite, just so long as he spends a fortune in the shop eh.

I've never understood this 'second team' thing

Never, for a proper fan you can't. I don't even think you can have a second team either. You may want another team to win for various reasons, but you can't support it the same.

I think you can have a second team if they're a really small club and local i.e. I support Slough town in the Ryman League. Other than that it's f*cking kids stuff and this tosspot who now wants to support the reds should just feck right off we don't need twaats like that.

mmmmmm possibly. Never thought of that as the nearest small club to me is Everton.

I've ALWAYS had a 'second' team, don't see the problem really.......

Liverpool reserves, of course ;)

Thats how I feel.

He may be a light-weight today, but he may come to have true red blood coursing through his veins.

The simple answer is that you can't

It just means he never supported them (Sunderland) in the first place.

Maybe one day he'll find true love (I doubt it though).

grew up supporting the reds but have been watching northampton for 16yrs now, both put me through the ringer trust me :(

but have always said that if we met in the cup i'd like a strong cobblers performance at anfield but to still lose ;)

Actually the cricket pitch had a s**** footy ground attached to it, plus it had the cricket pitch down one side not at the end.

As a kid Rochdale were my second team. They were local, they were cheap enough to buy tickets (at the gates)with my pocket money and I could walk to the ground with my mates. I still look for their results but have lately noticed we only tend to win when they lose or draw. Of course my allegiance has cooled considerably since this realisation

I look out for Huddersfield's results.

But I wanted us to beat them 28-0 when we drew them in the cup a few years ago.

Like me. I watch for Celtic and to a lesser extent Wigan. No chance of me switching allegiances or being happy if one of those beat us though.

What if UNC played Liverpool?

How about West Ham....are they a small club?

It was my grandads team and his love of football was what rubbed off on me. Its a club I have a soft spot for for a number of reasons but I couldn't ever change my allegiance.

Change jobs yes, change girlfriends by all means, wife even, hellfire even sex if youre desperately unhappy, but club ? that ain't right!, dont feel happy about that at all

Used to go and watch Swansea City with my mates because they were the closest club that played at a decent level. I only started going when Big Jan went to manage them though.

Another OOT/newbie wanting tickets that should go to locals.:bleh:

Isnt Rafa, Momo, Alonso, Garcia etc a OOT?but that suits everyone I suppose cause it doesnt effect them, OOt supporters arent allowed cause they take up seats.
