Xabi ran the show today. After his early yellow card I was afraid he would end up beside Gerrard but he did his job very very proffesional.

Thought Alonso today was immense just as he was against Birmingham, We have got the best 2 CM in Europe in Gerrard and Alonso.

 

Thought Garcia had a poor first half but was brilliant 2nd half, the same for Momo, Kewell and Crouch.

 

Have to say overall the Ref was absolutely shocking - one of the worst performances from a ref I've seen!

Agree about Alonso. Absolutely fantastic today. They tried to get him out of balance but he didn't care. Passing, workrate, tackling, passion.. he was the master of everything.

HE was ace. As already pointed out he has really adapted to the physical side of the game and will not be intimidated by any tackles or kicks. He can get stuck in and close down well too. I would like to see him take more set pieces when Gerrard is in the team too. Sometimes having SG in the box to meet a Xabi free-kick would be a lethal weapon.

put in the performance of 2 today. He's a hard b*****d too, I've seen it plenty, he takes it & certainly isn't shy of giving it back. He's the scary sort though, who when you kick him, he doesn't say or do anything; you just know your 'time' is coming.
