Agreed, can't really complain, but the ref has been awful today, Cahill should've had a red card, possible peno on Crouch and a whole bunch of pointless cards..

The thing that annoys me about refs is consistancy!

Gerrard's first booking was for dissent (kicking the ball away) but Beattie had done exactly the same thing minutes earlier and the ref didn't do a thing!

That is the one of the worst performances from a ref I've seen - and that is for both teams!

Thought Gerrard was poor in the fact that he had just been booked 35 seconds earlier and it's always risky going in for a challenge like that straight after - but after his performances of the last 4 years and the fact we won 3-1 I'll let him off

I said that Van Der Mayde, Garcia and Beattie all used their eblows exactly the same and if Van Der Meyde's was a red card then so where Garcia and Beattie's!

The ref was a joke from start to finish. Garcia should've been sent off? For what? The guy was pulling on his jersey and he tried to free himself, don't think he even made contact.

Maybe we can't really argue with both yellows - but Dowd was living proof today of ref's not understanding the game - and not understanding certain fixtures. Would it really have been too much for him to pull Stevie to one side and say "Wise up. Do that again and i'll have to book you"?

As soon as it happened, you also knew he'd have to sent off an Everton player.

One of the worst refereeing performance i've seen it a while. Dowd is always smug, limelight-hoggin t*** but today he was especially egregious! Can't believe that it turned out to be such a cracking match, since he did his best to ruin it.

Can anyone confirm Stevie will miss West Brom? I'd be kind of relieved if that was the case. We have Bolton coming up.

I have no idea why anyone would get any kicks out of imagining a ref was really really really biased us when a) they weren't b) they just witnessed a top performance by our lads.

I don't I just said he had a shocking first 45 mins, and a pretty poor second half and all of a sudden I'm accusing him of cheating and I'm revelling in the ref having a shocker and ignoring our good performance.

The fact that the ref was poor made our rising above it and dominating an inform team whilst down to 10 men all the sweeter.

My main gripe is that Sky didn't make phil neville man of the match...

FFS stop bleating about the ref. He has done us a favour. Stevie G will be "Rested" against West Brom and be back refreshed for the important Bolton game. Bolton would only be 4 points behind if they win all of their games in hand.

In my opinion the whistle donkey has really helped us out here.

I agree. TBH honest, he may well have not started against WBA next week anyway. If he is to be rested in the next couple of weeks, it would have been in that match.

Probably true, I remember Biscan's sending off being particularly confusing. Justice was done then as well. I always forget that match when thinking of Winter. It's always jugears dive that springs to mind first.

They linger shorter in the memory when justice is eventually done, no doubt this dowd's attrocious performance will be soon forgotten.

I really think there are double standards for players these days. If it was Cisse being stupid, you would have been on page 14 by now telling how f***ng stupid he was. Since it's Steven, you agree he should be sent off, but your response is quite subdued.

I'm a BIG Djib fan, but to be fair, Stevie has accumulated some "slack" through his performances this and last season, which Djibs has not.

Fair comment, the ref WAS a t***t. But, it still doesn't take away the fact that other, less popular players would have been ridiculed on here.
