Hmmm....my mate is on the sports staff of a big local paper and he said the entire staff have bought into Graham and laid off on Allardyce, who is another rumoured candidate.

 

Must say I'd be suprised if GG came back into football after all this time.

Weird. I'd forgotten about that threadand the story I was told by a Geordie mate is the same one as you, the sports desk at a local paper one! Methinks I smell fish somewhere, I'm not even sure if the lad I know even works for a paper now....

For the last 10 years or so they've had a decent first XI but the rest of the squad hasn't been up to standard. Shearer's decline in the last 18-24 months has been rapid and other key players in the squad would appear to be players who went there because Newcastle matched their wages.

They need to give a manager 4 or 5 years to build a team but the boardoom and fans seem incapable of waiting ( probably because the last time they won anything, everyone played in black and white )
