Don't think we will sign a player who was only fit for half of Newcastle's games before he injured his metatarsal - a club with no European commitments, a club only playing 1 game per week.

 

Probably be on around the £90,000+pw wage bracket, would possibly want the no10 shirt off Garcia, and if his Newcastle contract is to be believed has to start a game if fit.

 

A player who didn't want to be here before, and didn't want to come last Summer. A player whose hold up/link play is poor, and has struggled to work well consistantly with a strike partner throughout his career.

 

A player who, for me, seems more interested in playing for his country before his club - I imagine the BarCodes were thrilled when the 1st words out of his mouth were along the lines of 'not to worry I'll be back in time for the World Cup' shortly after injuring his metatarsal.

 

Even when were struggling for goals this season at no point did I think I wish we'd had Owen back.

Can't help thinking that due to the way Stevie spoke about him a couple of weeks ago, we are gonna sign him. If its gonna be around the 12m mark, then who realistically is out there for that money and is a PROVEN goalscorer at every level he's played at and for that matter every country (including Wales!) ? The lad scores goals, if Cisse goes (and I don't really want him too btw) for around 8m, its an even better deal.

except that (i) his total cost including wages is very high and would restrict other squad-building (ii) there will be in rafa's eyes cheaper good alternatives (iii) his injury record this year is not good (iv) his less than sparkling all round approach work may not appeal to rafa's philosophies (v) he'd insist on heskey rejoining
