CarraLegend Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 (edited) Reina - 7 - Didnt have much to do but was commanding, made a smart save from Forsell and bailed us out brilliantly with that diving clearance after Carra left the ball. Defence - 8 - 7 for their defensive performance, as comfortable as ever and an extra point for them getting 2 goals, from an incredible striker from Riise. Garcia - 7 - Wasteful at times but got involved all the time and worked hard. Alonso - 8 - He's great and has the ability to just coast through games while still being effective Sissoko - 8 - Absolutely brilliant to have him back, was sloppy to begin with but improved greatly and was still throwing himself into challenges in stoppage time. Gerrard - 10 - He's a monster, the best player in the world and the greatest player i've ever seen live. Its an absolute privelage to be able to watch him week in week out and is worth the ticket price alone. Kewell - 7.5 wasteful crossing at times but still ended up with an assist. Crouch - 9 - Whats that? Since he got that monkey off his back against Wigan its 12 in his last 24 games, taken off a lot after 60odd mins aswell and a sub appearance or two thrown in, thats not bad for someone who "cant score". Subs - 8 Got goals, what more can you ask for? Edited March 22, 2006 by CarraLegend
Bjarkinn Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 Sissoko rating was just because he was back
Earl Hafler Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 (edited) I don't know what's worse - that or Carralegend marking Kewell higher than Reina despite the fact that Reina played much better than Kewell..something Carralegends description would seem to agree with Edited March 22, 2006 by Big Stuff

Surprised you didnt get a dig in with me giving him a 10, you seem to enjoy putting him down if anyone dares say anything good about him eh?
meepins Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Gerrard rightfully got the Motm. Also worth a mention is Garcia who has put in a few decent performances lately after his injury woe.
ozziecazzie Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Methinks Kewell is very very tired. He's been a permanent for many games now.The one game where he gets a break, and he's on after 20.I still take my hat off to him, though.Overall, the spark and intelligence/inventiveness is back, even though he's still a fraction off the pace.

Spot on. Couldnt agree more. Considering we had 2 games in hand 2 months ago and have played CL, Fa cup games, caught up and had one more than the opposition in that time ( ) it is hardly surprising some have struggled. HK has said recently he still isnt 100% and i expect a certain recovery time is needed for each game, hence why he was benched for this game with only 48 hr break. Thought he did ok today but was clearly not 100% . Mores the pity is that with 2 early goals if Traore was not injured i doubt very much HK would of featured at all and had a complete rest.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 it's difficult to judge as Brum's defence was that poor. The first 3 goals, there was no challenge for. Moro - apart from the goal - did absolutely nothing. I don't think I even heard his name after 5 mins after he got on - then again, it was so embarrassingly easy, that where was the point in breaking sweat with the s**** amongst many games to come?
fred milne Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Gerrard was outstanding last night - the dominant player on the pitch, even though he was playing RM.
Flight Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Gerrard was magnificent. At his very best and unselfish throughout. Seems to be learning loads from Rafa - and the good thing is he is no longer carrying the players around him, though he is bringing out the best in them and inspiring the team.
Mike Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 we were much better when riise went to lb - traore had apparently forgotten he was meant to be at the back again last night before he went off. the only times they threatened was when they were in acres of space in our lb position in the first half. all in all a very comfortable performance from everyone.thought xabi was superb personally.
Coyler Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Sissoko rating was just because he was back Positive discrimination?
diggy Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 The matchings on ITV teletext are entertainment. All the Liverpool backline and keeper got six. Midfielders got mostly sevens, maybe Stevie got 8 and crouch got a 6. (Maybe be a little off but believe they were ungenerous) Looked at the Birmingham ratings. Taylor got a 5, one below Reina. The defenders got 5 and 6's. The only one to get a 4 was Forrsell. In summary Liverpool players rated on average 1 better than their opposing player. The match rater must have been watching it on teletext. Or is a Manc.

The only one to get a 4 was Forrsell.I actually thought Forsell was one of their better players on the night - though clearly that's not saying much.
Stevie H Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Gerrard was outstanding last night - the dominant player on the pitch, even though he was playing RM. i felt sorry for that kid painter being up against gerrard. gerrard tore him to pieces without really getting out of second gear.
Guest Sabre Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I thought Forsell and Pennant were there only threats.
Leo No.8 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 (edited) Gerrard gets to run at defenders more when he plays on the right, and he looks frighteningly good when he does that. I can't understand this obsession with him playing in the middle - I actually think he gets to influence our attacking play more when he's out wide. He gets more space to run into, and his delivery on the run is as good as anyone's in the game. It seems to me like a lot of people believe the best player should always play in the middle no matter what... Edited March 22, 2006 by Leo No.8
Coyler Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I thought Forsell and Pennant were there only threats.Reina's save from Forsell was brilliant, it was almost past him till he decided to lash out the arm. Fine, muscular wrist on the chap as well.
Guest Sabre Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Fine, muscular wrist on the chap as well. Ummm yeah...
Guest Sabre Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Watch it again. "Strong" wrist, then. Whatever
