The premise being that you take last year's league table, and compare results against teams from this season against last season's, adjusting the table accordingly. Matches yet to be played are counted as repeating last season's result hence the final points total. For example, last season Fulham 1-4 ChelseaChelsea 3-1 Fulham This season Fulham 1-0 ChelseaChelsea 3-2 Fulham Chelsea therefore losing three points and are down 6 goals on goal difference. The table as it currently looks. N.B. the three promoted sides obviously take the place of the three relegated teams.
